thank you, BN for…

BNprotest

… giving us another reason not to vote BN come the next election.

from malaysiakini’s ‘protest staged outside penang state assembly’.

A group of state Barisan Nasional youth leaders and supporters numbering more than 100 staged a protest outside the Penang legislative assembly this afternoon against the Pakatan Rakyat state government.

nothing wrong about holding a protest – it’s everyone’s rights – but they burned a photo of the penang CM and they were abusive and used vulgar words. worst of all, police did nothing. they were there for 45 mins and police did nothing. i remember our anti ISA vigil, we were there for only 15 mins, the police already warned us to stop.

what were they protesting about? the report in malaysiakini (btw i notice other online media does not carry this enws) stated that they were condemning the state government for failing to resolve issues such as kampung buah pala, mak mandin rumah hijau and the controversial conversion of a foreshore land status.

fail to resolve? as far as i’m concerned the kampung buah pala issue had been resoloved… and the other two issues are still on-going, i believe so how do they tell that the govt. had fail to resolve them?

they saja-saja want to made noise, that’s why! they were protesting in general against the state govt. gee… if they have issues to be brought up saying the state govt. didn’t do this and that, it actually shows the state govt. is doing something! if not, where got the issues?

the protest was led by penang umno youth chief  norman zahalan.  can you believe this guy?

He later told reporters that the protest was held on behalf of Penangites to condemn the incompetency of the state government in resolving many contentious issues in the state in the past 20 months.

“The state government is keen in politicking and slandering the previous BN administration with lies. It’s a demonstration of public dissatisfaction against the Pakatan government.

“It (the state government) is inefficient, incompetent and lacks the experience and maturity to run the state,” he said.

good lord! i nearly puke!! “on behalf of penangites”???  “demonstratino of public dissatisfaction”???  go to hell! i don’t need you to speak for me, en. norman zahalan.  it was a protest by BN, so say lah “on behalf of BN”.  why don’t you take a survey among penangites and see how many of them are dissatisfied with the PR govt? i bet you more than 1/2 will be satisfied!

penangites arleady threw BN out. 50 years and did nothing for us. penangites voted for PR and PR is now only 2 years governing, so even if peanngites  are  not satisfied, it is for them (penangites) to protest  – not the BN!!! PR is only 2 years…  well not even 2 years… of course they are inexperienced but they are learning and trying their best. i would gladly give them the chance to prove themselves since it’s only 2 years… but you, BN, had been ruling for 50 years and it was you that the public was very very disatisfied with after the 50 years that in ‘protest’ voted you out!! comprehendo?

there were more than 100 of them and they were very noisy and yet the police did not stop them. nothing new. you and i knew it – double standard from the police! someone in comments was mentioning that the police said they did not know the protest was going on and when they get to the scene, the protestors already was winding up. ha! haha!! that is really ridiculous! because we, penangites know that the beach street police station is so very nearby to the state assembly building! yes very nearby – 50 meters only. don’t kid us, police. you knew but didn’t bother to stop them… well as CM lim pointed out, ok since they show tolerance to the BN protestors, hope next time NGO or PR hold protests, the police will also show the same kind of tolerance.

still remember the umno protest at komtar barely a week after march the 8? and now remember this – nov. 30 at the penang state assembly.  come next general election, people, you know what to do – don’t vote these sore losers, trouble makers.

Protest staged outside Penang State Assembly

BNprotest2A group of state Barisan Nasional youth leaders and supporters numbering more than 100 staged a protest outside the Penang legislative assembly this afternoon against the Pakatan Rakyat state government.

The protesters vented their frustration against what they described as an “inefficient and indecisive” state government which failed to resolve the people’s problems and fulfill pre-election promises.

Led by Penang Umno Youth chief Norman Zahalan, the protest started at 12.15pm and ended about 45 minutes later.

It took place while the assembly sitting was going on.

The protesters also carried banners and placards condemning the state government for failing to resolve issues such as Kampung Buah Pala, Mak Mandin Rumah Hijau and the controversial conversion of a foreshore land status.
An unidentified protester had stomped and torched a poster of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Penang Gerakan Youth chief Oh ToBNproetest3ng Keong later clarified that the protester was not a BN Youth member.

“I tried to stop him but the situation became uncontrollable,” he told Malaysiakini.

“We condemn the act of torching the poster. If you have any grievances, you should express it in peaceful way,” he added.

CM questions police’s ‘tolerance’

Meanwhile, Lim who witnessed the demonstration when the assembly rested for lunch questioned the police’s ‘tolerance’.

“I hope the police would exercise the same tolerance towards other demonstrations,” he told reporters.

The chief minister said the Pakatan government was not against people exercising their right to express their disapproval against his administration. However, he alleged that the protesters were aggressive.

“I heard that some of them attempted to break down the anti-ISA billboard erected outside the House. It’s an act of political gangsterism,” he said.

Also present at the protest was PenangBNprotest4 MIC Youth chief J Dhinagaran and his PPP counterpart M Manikumar.

Although no one was detained, Norman however, had his statement recorded at the nearby Lebuh Pantai police station.

Aide abused

Dhinagaran said if the state government leaders felt that they lacked experience and political conviction to administer, then they should resign en bloc and pave way for fresh polls.

The Pakatan state government was also urged to administer the state instead of always blaming the previous administration.

The chief minister’s political secretary NBNprotest5g Wei Aik claimed that he was verbally abused with foul language by the noisy protesters.

“I told them to show some respect to the on-going assembly sitting and refrain from using vulgar words. But I was verbally abused in return,” he said.

MACC report lodged

In another development, the state Umno Youth lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against the state government over the sale of a 1.4-hectare piece of land in Georgetown.

Its treasurer, Aziaan Ariffin, said he had asked the MACC to investigate the sale of the land located adjacent to the E&O Hotel.

“We found that the state government had changed the status of Lot 408 in Georgetown early this year by imposing a low premium on PDC Heritage Hotel Sdn Bhd (PHH),” he said.

“As such, we feel there are some irregularities and also an element of corruption in the change of the status of the land,” he said.

First off, congratulations to the police for exercising restraint and showing tolerance for the public’s right to freedom of assembly. Let’s hope they practice this from now on for all future demonstrations. Secondly, thank you Norman Zahalan for airing your grievances towards the state government. We value all kinds of feedback. However, can you please next time send your feedback and complaints in a more acceptable manner and provide constructive criticism instead of shouting vulgar words in an aggressive manner? Thank you for your cooperation. We are pleased to listen to more feedback from BN Youth. By the way, Oh Tong Keong, don’t be sad. The same thing happened to your beloved Gerakan President’s posters torn apart by Penang UMNO members, so you should’ve gotten used to it by now. J Dhinagaran, we are also waiting for the 2 BN friendly independents in Perak to resign as a result of their corruption case and shameful airing of them having sex with China Dolls. Can you do that?

They will only arrest people for holding candle virgils, black shirts and rose parades…IGP you are a utter disgrace to Malaysia.

by Noo Gonk – 3 hours ago

I totally agree with Hew MF that not only Penangites should boycott the Mamak stalls in Penang, all Mamak stalls in 1Malaysia should be boycotted as well, not just on ground of hygiene alone but for the radical actions they did as well.

No matter what lowdown dirty tricks Najib tries in his insane attempt to wrest back all the states BN lost to Pakatan Rakyat after GE12, they will most certainly backfire on him and Umno/BN. That’s what the ghosts of Kugan, Teoh Beng Hock and Altantuya have told me.

by Yeoh Kean Chye – 4 hours ago

YB Lim GE, your behaviour in the face of provocation is exemplary , full of humility and strength of character. You are the type of Chief Minister every state would want. Don’t let those hooligans rattle you. They are probably being paid to do what they did, like being given free nasi kandar for lunch or dinner. It does not take much to mobilise these hooligans to burn pictures of leaders or tear them. They are cowards, as they will not dare do the same to Najib’s photo. They are abusing their right to demonstrate. They look miserable enough to be even prepared to pawn their mothers for a bowl of porridge . They are not people of honour or people with good upbringing. You are doing a fine job. Keep it up and you will still be the CM after the next GE. Good people want you to continue to play an important part in transforming the political landscape for a Malaysia with hope, free from blatant corruption, a country with justice for all. Sir, you make your parents proud.

Let the mamak eateries operators plead towards these UMNO Mamak Youth to stop all these nonsense protest. It is another plot by BN to push PR government out.

According to some reports, there were Special Branch operatives in plain clothes among the crowd acting as agent provacateurs. One of them may have stomped on a picture of LGE and was quickly denounced by the embarrassed BN leaders present as not a member.

by Disgusted Penangite – 5 hours ago

God help us ! Shame on these UMNO/BN youth leaders, thugs & supporters who still cannot settle down to play their role as a responsible and constructive Opposition in Penang and other PR-administered states ! It has been 20 months since the political tsunami and these people are still acting like spoilt brats and such sore losers ! For Gerakan youth leaders to collaborate with those UMNO/Mamak goons who had done the same despicable act on their own president just last year, it just goes to show that Gerakan and KTK are just so desperate for political attention and is certainly a party without any more morals ! PDRM has become nothing more than an institution used by the UMNO-putras to achieve its own political aims, just like the MACC and judiciary and it’s indeed a sad day for Malaysia ! Imagine what would happen to this nation’s economy if UMNO & BN were to cause the non-Malays to lose their faith in this country and migrate overseas ! Can they survive on its own?

by mammen – 5 hours ago

A bunch of sore losers venting out their frustrations…hahaha!!! Since when these BN guys….esp. the imbeciles from MIC care what happens to the Indian settlers of Kg Buah Pala. Who are they trying to fool?? I guess they are jobless now and have decided to become troublemakers.

by Wong Chee Kong – 6 hours ago

Actually little do they realize that the police’s “tolerance” speaks and confirms so many things. These things will be manifested at the next GE.

by karrlos – 6 hours ago

Ai yah, All of this Penang BN youth leaders got no khang tau for very long already. That is why they are making a lot of noise. By the way, the Penang MIC youth chief has any academic qualification or not? or is he just fit to sell thosai at his Jaya Restaurant? The Penang public should boycott Jaya Restaurant Dai thamby, pooooo dah .

by raven – 6 hours ago

don’t blame the police. I saw with my own eyes Gerakan members claiming so proudly that the protest was about Kampung Buah pala. Sure – take the higher moral ground. You are all as guilty as that. Nobody was there to move the crowd. BN Assemblymen even went out to shake hands with their protesters. Also, the man who torched CM’s picture – ask around – he is from Prai Mak Mandin MIC. So is he BN or what? Mr Oh – you are a total shame to Gerakan

by TAN MIN FUI – 6 hours ago

Only those who voted for Pakatan/DAP has a right to protest against the state government for not keeping its promises. Did any of these BN goons vote for Pakatan/DAP? Of course not. So what reason do they have for the protest if they did not give their vote to Pakatan/DAP? … only to stir up trouble. What is the police doing about the burning of CM’s poster? What if others burn a poster of PM?

by Loyal malaysian – 6 hours ago

Aiyah!! goes without saying – anything by the umnoputras are fully tolerated by the police. Peaceful candlelight vigils are violently broken up!! So,…

by tan leil ing – 6 hours ago

Penangites don’t need a bunch of imbecile goons to speak up for them…….. Looks like Gerakan’s fate is sealed in Penang……. just disband Gerakan Penang lah their members can join the MCA.

by Keturunan Malaysia – 6 hours ago

See what I meant…the “popular comments and/or reponse” here are just the tiny tip of the iceberg. BN just “harden” the admiration and respect of a great majority of people of Penang in particular and the rest of Malaysians in general have for LGE. When is BN going to learn that it does not work this way anymore and the people seen doing this stupid things are making a grand idiots out of themselves and the people and parties they represent.

by Disgusted – 7 hours ago

Hey Thuraisingam, who are you to decide that Penang needs a change. Has MIC all these 50 years in BN done anything for Indians in Penang or whole of Malaysia. People in Penang will never want BN to rule Penang again. If BN is so confident of winning back Penang why not Gerakan, MCA, MIC PPP and all other component parties ask Najib and UMNO to dissolve Parliament and State Assemblies and call for fresh GE to see if Najib and BN still has the support of the people. Do you dare if not shut the F–k up cowards.

by Hovid – 7 hours ago

Wow.. imagine if someone stomped and torched a poster of Najib outside Parliment.. will the police stand and watch?

by Mana Sakthi – 7 hours ago

The majority of citizens of Penang was right to kick out UMNO and all his gangs. You just wonder the role of the police in such cases when it involves supporter from UMNO and the opposition. The police acted cool when it comes to UMNO and their gangsters but when it comes to opposition they even manhandled the speaker of the house as in Perak. The problem with this country is because we have this so called social engineering championed by our former PM many years ago for political reasons and this has been adopted into all the so called agencies who was supposed to be professional and indendent. For this thing to happen in Penang I’m not at all surprise as dont forget the slave KTK was abused in like manner from Ahmad Ismail and his hooligans in similar fashion. Maybe UMNO nasi Kandar business is affected because people is starting to stay away from any institution, people or business that has traces of racism. Today mark another day that is only exist in Boleh Land.

by wira – 7 hours ago

Not the Penang mamaks again! Shall we go without nasi kandar again for the next 6 months? What is the response of Gerakan to this? Working hand in gloves with the enemy who tore up the picture of their president?

by Sentinel – 7 hours ago

Ha! Ha! Ha! Gerakan Youth ganged up with the Mamaks who tore down Koh Tsu Khoon’s photo and stepped on it – just to score some cheap political points. What imbeciles! Where is your principle man Gerakan? Ever wondered why you got kicked out of Penang?

by Sentinel – 7 hours ago

So it was the Gerakan Youth who organised this fiasco right in Penang? Look at the people at the protest… aren’t these the very same people who pulled down the portrait of Gerakan Chief Koh Tsu Koon and stepped on it in front of national TV? Hah, looks like Gerakan has gone down to the lowest level and partner the very people just to gain a few more votes… but Penangites are not that stupid.

by 1 Malaysia Guy – 8 hours ago

I don’t know much about the politics of LGE but I can never forget the day when he was sentenced to jail for 3 of the best years of his life for championing the cause of a young 14 year old Malay girl and her grandmother. Maybe he was technically wrong but certainly not morally. Talking about one Malaysia, a Chinese guy going to jail in the cause of Malay girl, cool man, that’s the ultimate example of the one Malaysia concept. Looks like this LGE guy doesn’t wax eloquence over this one Malaysia thing but he certainly practises it. I mean like, if going to jail for the sake of someone of another community is not one Malaysia in spirit then what else is. LGE – The Ultimate 1 Malaysian

by Amaso – 8 hours ago

Home Minister Hishamuddin, where is the law proposed to allow people to have peaceful demostration? You have been talking this for months. You are making the police busy putting out bush fires, draining police force resources thus leaving not much time for them to carry out their core duties : crime-busters

by Victor Johan – 8 hours ago

I would like to thank this group of state Barisan Nasional youth leaders led by Penang Umno Youth chief Norman Zahalan, Penang Gerakan Youth chief Oh Tong Keong, and the last but not the least the Police Department in Penang for their over zealous efforts in campaigning to ensure the SUCCESS OF PAKATAN RAKYAT IN THE COMING GE13. A special thanks is also accorded to their chief who is also the President of UMNO and the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Once again, I thank you.

PDRM keep quiet .of course it s their own people.Homeminister rule the country without looking which party. We want peace. If hindrah demonstrste you people call them different names.

by Habib RAK – 8 hours ago

We welcome the peoples’ right to assemble and freedom of expression as guaranteed by our Constitution. Pakatan Rakyat as our torch bearer for upholding the Constitution would not deny these protesters their right to assemble and express. What PR and the general public are disgusted about is the double standard of the Police. Supporters of UMNO/BN are allowed their rights under the Constitution but those who are not from UMNO/BN are denied of their constitutional rights.

by unkerLai – 8 hours ago

LGE is the best thing to have happened to penang. He handled the Kg Buah Pala problem with dignity and aplomb. He is giving a fresh wind to the sails of honesty, transparency and accountability. Long live LGE. He sacrificed his freedom for the honour of an underaGED MALAY GIRL WHO WAS RAPED. I will vote for him again and again.

by Keturunan Malaysia – 9 hours ago

Sometimes the person whom the demonstrators demonstrated against gets into a pretty bad light and sometimes it is the reverse. Malaysians as a whole will decide for sure but the sad part is, there are still people who cannot seem to understand that the majority of Malaysians do have a fair level of intelligence to arrive at a good decision…no matter what! BN must not only be fair henceforth, but must be seen to be fair. Otherwise, any action taken or word uttered by BN is just a big joke as best…!

by Brij Jayaram Kathiravelu – 9 hours ago

wow, once again PDRM has demostrated high level of tolerance for a peaceful demostration in highly efficient manner by allowing a group of rakyat to exercise their democratic rights. i would be most impressed with our police force if they allow all legal citizens of our country to exercise their democratic right all the time and not just certain section of citizens at certain times in certain states! by the way, ‘Rowther’ mana yang tengah duk bakar gambar LGE tu! MIC, GERAKAN, IPF, MAKKAL SAKTHI, KIMMA……..

statement by Police Raja – “we are not awared about the protest and by the time we got there, it was already over”.. what a double standard…where are the water cannons and tear gas! …protest by a bunch of mamaks…

by Eric Koay – 9 hours ago

Well, the BN never fulfill their pre-elections promises for how many years now? For how many elections? BN, go back and look at the mirror, and protest there lah. If you BN goons still have any morality left in you.

by Yih Feng Low – 9 hours ago

Over in Perak, you can get arrested for: wearing black and going hungry. As soon as you even shed a hint of anti-BNism, you are arrested. In Penang, you can stamp on the CM’s poster and get away scott free… Hmmm…

by Sentinel – 10 hours ago

The police have just shown once again to all they are biased and practise double standards. Like the cow head demo in Shah Alam, the police have once again stood idly by and watch in glee. People of Penang – remember all these when we vote again come 2012!

by mob1900 – 10 hours ago

BTN offsprings in action! Why were these not highlighted during BN’s tenure as most of these controversial issues were remnants from AMNO’s corruption and pillaging. Dear AMNO-paid thugs, please get a real job instead of being a ‘trash of society’.

by Azmil Tayeb – 10 hours ago

The Police have double standard. The protestors are causing public anxiety and insecurity. Why must the police not using water cannon and tear gas to disperse the demonstration. Has the police given them the permit to demonstrate? YB LGE please snub them and dont give in to them. This demo is a plan one by BN to disturb the functioning of PR government. All PR state have to counter these evil enemies from now.

by karma – 10 hours ago

At least YB Lim is tolerant and accepts democratic protest. It is common for people in other countries to burn poster or effigy of the presidents or heads. As long as no one is injured such peaceful protest should be allowed. But it will be different when PR marched the streets protesting against unresolved or inaction towards big time corruption reports. YB Lim should let this people shout and scream and there is no need to bring in the FRU or water canon. There is better ways to spend such money. If you don’t disrupt them, they will not run into shops and disrupt businesses.
