religious freedom trampled on
in my last post when i lamented about no freedom of religion after lina joy’s verdict, a commenter, jee, asked me not to exaggerate the issue - that s/he and i are still free to practise our religions. sure but i was not talking about s/he and i. i was talking about malays/muslim. at any rate if she and i choose to convert to islam, there’ll be no ‘coming out’ from islam ever, so there you have it, no freedom of religion too (already being muslim)…… and there you have it, all points to malays/muslim having no freedom of religion.

no freedom of religion in our country
as expected - the verdict: she lose.
lina joy was once a muslim and now she wanted to be a christian, but the court says no - so say what? are you going to tell me again there is freedom of religion in our country? lina joy doesn’t have the freedom to choose her religion! don’t give me all the blah blah about once a muslim always a muslim, no ‘gostan’ if you are a muslim, or the apostasy issue, blah blah blah. i know. i know. whatever… it all still boils down that an individual has no rights to choose her/his religion.

give more powers to rela?
i went to malaysiakini and i saw ‘rela chief: ‘give us more power’. then i went to sun2surf and i saw ’suaram: ‘powers given to rela institutionalised vigilanteism’.
(and other related issues)
huh? you kidding, mr rela chief? more power? haven’t we heard enough of abuse of power by rela members? and i shudder to think what may happen if more power are given to them.
despite all the complaints, the rela chief, zaidon asmuni, insisted that they always acted within the law (or here at beritamalaysia).
huh? really? i have blogged a number of times already about the high-handedness of rela members and how they abused their powers. to them they are ‘ayam telur’!
how were these ‘ayam telur’ selected? believe it or not, at the interview of the chief, here’s what he said:
* What is the screening process for recruits?
Nowadays we don’t have to screen. Anyone can join and become a Rela member. If we were to conduct a screening exercise, it would take the police some time (to do so), because they have their own priorities. Those who join will receive a membership card within two weeks. It’s as simple as that.
"as simple as that". ah! precisely the problem. if you fancy being judge dredd who go around shouting "ayam telur" ("i am the law" lah!), just go and apply to be a rela member - you’ll be accpeted at once without any questions. flashing your rela card, you now have the authority to arrest or harras anyone you suspect/judge to be an illegal immigrant. neat.

Muslim groups brace for Lina Joy decision
from malaysiakini:
Muslim groups brace for Lina Joy decision
May 29, 07 1:54pm
Muslim groups nationwide have been told to be adequately prepared for the
much-anticipated Federal Court decision on the Lina Joy case tomorrow.
Mosques, surau, and non-governmental organisations have been urged to hold
special prayers so that the judgement is "in favour of Islam".
In making the call this morning, though, PAS Federal Territory Youth chief
Kamaruzaman Mohamad strongly urged all parties to remain calm and warned
against any attempts to provoke or raise tensions over the issue.

a sexist song for you
well these days you heard so much of sexist remarks from the monkeys in parliament and state assembly, that you thought you have enough but here am i to present to you a sexist song (or maybe chauvinist is the word to use). no no it is not my own creation (i am not that creative) but a popular song that had been around for ages. as i mentioned the lyrics to show how demeaning it is to women, you might recognize which song i am talking about.

sexist remarks again
phew! will it ever stop??
presenting now….
(picture taken from mob’s crib)
and the usual suspects morons…

(pictures taken from penang watch)
Shabudin Yahaya (BN-Permatang Berangan) (the moron on the right) said the way women dressed up was among factors that led to sexual harassment and violent sexual acts being committed.
"The women’s dressing nowadays can entice men to harass and do things to them," he said when debating the motion of thanks in the state assembly Monday.
Datuk Jasmin Mohamed (BN-Sungai Dua) (the moron on the left) said women’s pursuit of position prompted many of them to put aside their responsibility to the family and was one of the reasons for the violent sexual acts.
here’s another moron….

who remarked:
“A woman 50 years ago, she looks beautiful, but today she won’t look so beautiful,”
ayoyo! podah sami!!
