such stupid answers from the home minister

POSTED: Sunday, 14/09/08, 2:02 AM   FILED: CnP, entertainment, government, malaysia, politics |

remember how that ah-mad is-maid guy made me laughed so much? now it is the home minister’s turn (not that it iisa 3 teresa raja petra tan hoon chengs the first time). it is his ‘bodohness’ that made, i’m sure not only me, but others like aisheman laugh.

actually today being a sunday, i had normally decided not to blog on politics on a sunday but this guy made me laughed so much with his interview answers that i just gotta post up his interview direct from malaysiakini and let you judge for yourself how silly the dunce er… home minister was. btw, if you read his name backwards - hamid syed - it sounds like in hokkien, ‘what shit?’. apt!! (picture taken from malaysiakini)

this guy is so pathetic and such a laugh actually!

    - he said it was the chinese reporter who incite racial sentiments bcos misquoting him. (haha!)
    - he said it was koh tsu koon and the chinese leaders who ought to apologise to him instead of him apologising (hahaha!)
    - after he cried out for gerakan to pull out from BN, and when gerakan did severed ties with penang umno, he said "is that professional? he (Koh) is the state BN chief and he severed ties with umno, how can he perform (his duty) like that? who is acting emotionally now?" (hahahaha!)

what the hell!! what tainting you hypocrites meant???

POSTED: Wednesday, 20/08/08, 1:47 AM   FILED: entertainment, government, issues, malaysia, social |

shit! damn! can you believe this or not?

    from the associated press:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia on Tuesday canceled a concert by Canadian rock singer Avril Lavigne, saying it may taint the Muslim-majority country’s independence day celebrations after the Islamic opposition slammed her show as being "too sexy."

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry said it had decided not to permit Lavigne’s show because it was unsuitable to Malaysian culture and could not be held on Aug. 29, two days ahead of independence day.

"It is not timely. It’s not in the good spirit of our National Day. If we go ahead with the concert, it is contrary to what we are preparing for," said Shukran Ibrahim, a senior official from the culture ministry’s department that vets all foreign artists.

The decision came after the youth wing of a fundamentalist opposition party, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, called for the show’s cancellation.

Kamarulzaman Mohamed, a party youth official, told The Associated Press on Monday that Lavigne’s show was "considered too sexy for us" and would promote the wrong values just before independence day.

"We don’t want our people, our teenagers, influenced by their performance. We want clean artists, artists that are good role models," he said.

who the bloody hell appoints you, PAS youth, particularly kamarulzaman mohamed, to be our (esp. youth) moral guardian??

who the bloody hell do you think you are to decide for us which artists are good role models?

and to the official from the culture ministry dept., shukran ibrahim, don’t make us a laughing stock!! (again!!).

of course i know this is not the first time such an incident happened. lately it was that indonesian singer… what’s her name… inuit or something. there are many instances. (read the full article from the associated press.)

oh boy! i’m too to go on. better go to sleep now and let off steam.

    elvis death annversary

POSTED: Thursday, 16/08/07, 1:55 AM   FILED: entertainment, personal |

30 years ago, on this date, the world mourned when one of the most popular legendary singer in the world passed away. elvis presley, the king of rock and roll. i wouldn’t say i’m a fan of elvis but i do enjoy listening to his songs very much. his movies were quite ok… the story-line in most of his movies were not really good. of course the only good thing about his movies were the songs (not forgetting watching him sway his hip).

if you want to know more about elvis, where else do you go but of course the official elvis presley website. i found a site with all his songs lyrics, arranged alphabetically, so if you are a fan, don’t miss this site ok. as i look through the site, i realise that there were so many songs i do not know of! see, told ya, i’m no fan actually.

most of the songs that i like are either sentimental love songs like ‘can’t help falling in love with you’, ‘there goes my everything’  ‘tennessee waltz’, ‘love me tender’ or fast numbers like ‘jailhouse rock’, ‘blue suede shoes’, ‘hound dog’. what about you? what are the songs of elvis that you like, your favourites?

incidentally, about the song ‘hound dog’, do you know that that is the title anwar dedicated to khairy? how apt.

website in memory of the late loga

POSTED: Friday, 8/06/07, 1:22 AM   FILED: entertainment, news, penang |

now, that is a very nice logo of the alleycats, don’t you think so? i wonder who designed it. the above logo was scanned from the star paper, in which an obituary ad appeared. of course that logo was created long ago but i had forgotten all about it until i saw it in the paper 2 days ago. the creator of the logo was sure creative indeed as the name of the alleycats was drawn in such a way to make up the picture of a cat. whoever you are, i salute you!

rest in peace, loga (of alleycats)

POSTED: Tuesday, 5/06/07, 1:54 AM   FILED: entertainment, news |

loganathan arumugam (picture), one of the arumugam brothers who make up the bank ‘alleycats’ (together with a few other members), passed away yesterday morning in the mount miriam hospital.

many young bloggers might not know who this group of singers known as alleycats are. they were popular during the 70s and 80s and their hometown was in penang. i remember they used to frequent the game room (billard) of the church of the assumption in farquhar street (the church which i used to attend) in the 70s. sometimes i used to spy david (or loga maybe… both of them looked the same to me!) from a far distance.

i enjoyed most of their songs especially sekuntum bunga mawar and andainya ku pergi dulu. you can get the lyrics of their songs from this website.

while i was googling for alleycats, i notice my fellow blogger simon had once blog about them, where he asked, anyone remember the alleycats?

jeff ooi had posted up 3 videos of the alleycats in action.

my condolence to loga’s wife and children, and especially to david arumugam. eternal rest grant unto loga, lord, and may his soul rest in peace.

    a sexist song for you

POSTED: Saturday, 26/05/07, 2:37 AM   FILED: entertainment, fun, general, social |

well these days you heard so much of sexist remarks from the monkeys in parliament and state assembly, that you thought you have enough but here am i to present to you a sexist song (or maybe chauvinist is the word to use). no no it is not my own creation (i am not that creative) but a popular song that had been around for ages. as i mentioned the lyrics to show how demeaning it is to women, you might recognize which song i am talking about.

    political and percentage

POSTED: Monday, 16/10/06, 1:54 AM   FILED: entertainment, malaysia, politics |

    “it’s academic, not political”

    so said gerakan and MCA.

who are you kidding us, gerakan and MCA??

“Allowing political motivation to interfere in academic integrity, independent scholarship & research excellence risks compromising Malaysia’s International reputation as a sound investment centre.”

    so said DAP.

    ahh… that’s more like it.

before i leave you, i would strongly urged you to hop over to drliew’s blog and read his post on ‘percentage’. go on. do it. he has one of the best analogy on this issue i ever come across (the one about retard). it’s so funny too. made me go LOL non-stop!

    country & western songs

POSTED: Wednesday, 13/09/06, 1:35 AM   FILED: entertainment, personal, social |

inspired by simon’s post on top 8Os songs i’m going to do something similiar. i will choose best country and western songs. best according to my choice of course. some songs that are popular according to me) which i like. you will notice that most of the songs are quite old… er… because i’m old? haha. yep, old songs are more my cup of tea. i’m going to list out 10 songs (in no particular order).

    1. country road by john denver
johndenver.jpg now, the no. 1 most popular and well- liked song which i’m sure many would agree with me would be none other than john denver’s ‘country road’
