Assuming the impending crossovers are going to take place on September 16, as said by Anwar, how would it actually happen? All the above and the potential reaction of the BN government concerns us deeply. Our haste in organising a public forum titled "916: Merdeka Gua Punya?" hence reflects the uncertainty tinged both with optimism and pessimism regarding impending events should Anwar’s move succeed. The forum aims to collect contrasting arguments on the possibility of political crossovers happening and the implications of a change of government through such means. Will Sept 16 be a day the people of Malaysia see genuine change? Will this day be another Merdeka? Will it be the peoples’ Merdeka?
