YB – yang berharap?
from sin chew editor’s desk of 4 april, came an interesting article that ask “what kind of YBs do we want?”
(btw, for the uninitiated, YB here stand for ‘yang berhormat’ which translated to enlgish means ‘honorable’. and ‘yang berharap’ means ‘hoping’ or ‘expecting’)
according to the editor, YBs sitting in the legislative assemblies have all the freedom of speech they can ever have… BUT then possesing it is one thing and utilising it is another.
the YBs are there because the rakyat put them there. they are there to speak up for the rakyat. that is their duty to the rakyat but…. sin chew editor asked:
But among the hundreds of YB’s we have, how many are actually doing their
jobs conscientiously?
Some of the elected representatives hardly speak a word in the legislative
assemblies, some even caught nodding off during the meetings!
What can we expect from such YB’s?
yes, what indeed? as many had already pointed out, the legislative assembly is a circus, and we know what we get in a circus, do we? monkeys and clowns and parrots, etc.
what kind of YBs do we want? well what do you expect from a circus? ya, apa yang boleh diharap daripada YB YB – yang berharap-yang berharap – sekalian?
