indians marginalized again?

it’s 4 days to deepavali and i have not seen on tv at all any deepavali greetings or deepavali ads. well i watch very little tv anyway and usually only ntv7, so i might be wrong, but watching ntv7 everyday, i did notice nothing mention about deepavali at all. instead, there is still the ‘selamat hari raya’ jingle/ad on ntv7! what gives eh?

why is deepavali holiday still one day when the malays have hari raya for 2 days and the chinese have chinese new year for 2 days?

sometime last week (again before deepavali) the government gave the indians an ‘ang pow’ in the form of banning hindraf! and don’t forget about uthayakumar’s sedition trial.

on 22 oct. we see a letter in malaysiakini ‘teachers’ deepavali eve briefing unkind’ about how an insensitive education ministry under kerismuddin set a meeting for teachers marking PMR exams paper on the eve of deepavali. this was also highlighted in lim kit siang’s blog.

so you tell me if the indians have every right to form hindraf and fight for their rights – it is through the government’s own doing that give birth to hindraf! and now they want to ban hindraf, which is kind of silly anway, as i agree with haris ibrahim that hindraf can’t be banned as it is not a registered organisation in the first place and it is not a group/organisation but a spirit.

hindraf will live on, no matter what. MAKAL SAKTHI!
