last night’s anti-ISA vigil

there were not as many people as last friday at yesterday’s anti-ISA vigil. methink only about 150. it was also a short vigil with no activities except for putting down our signatures on a large ‘mansuhkan ISA’ banner.

there was no VIP or any prominent speaker. instead the organiser called people from the crowd to come up to say something about ISA. well seemed that all of them were shy as none except one came out to say something – and for a short while only.

i was there collecting signatures for the media freedom petition. collected over 20 signatures, including from dr toh kin woon! i only asked around a few, especially those i know, and mostly from those who came to sign the anti-ISA petition at the GMI desk. if i move around (like last time i move around giving yellow ribbons), i would have collected more signatures – at least near 100 i’m sure. never mind, i still have 2 fridays to collect the signatures.

oh i bought two t-shirts that day – RPK’s t-shirt and the anti-ISA t-shirt. kasee, who is the penang’s rep. in charge of the RPK t-shirts was there with his van full of the t-shirts – the red, orange and black ones. i brought the red one. i actually like the wordings on the black one (front – i’m for RPK, back – no to ISA) but i don’t like the words on the front being so big. if the words are a bit smaller, then i would have bought the black one. the red one is not bad but problem is the words ‘free RPK’. what if RPK is free… then still wear the t-shirt? so i guess it is better to quick wear the t-shirt now before he is free.

btw, kasee is also selling the t-shirts at the chinese swimming club. so if anyone of you need those t-shirts, contact me to contact him.

ok here are some pictures of the vigil. thank god i had a friend who took the photos for me as my hands were all tied up! one hand  holding the petition on clipboard and the other hand holding the 2 t-shirts, with the candle. so no hand to hold the camera! i asked my friend to take any photos he like. again, since my camera is a lousy one, the photos always turned out too dark. he took 42 photos all together.

the first photo here shows part of the crowd.

the following photo shows me putting my signature on the banner. whoa! i looked so fat here.

the banner was lifted high after everybody had thier signatures down.
