anti-ISA vigil (new poster)

DON’T FORGET! tomorrow and subsequently every friday until 17 oct. come one, come all to dewan sri pinang in penang. to light a candle in support of the ISA detainees.
(scroll down from some chit chat from me after the poster)

last friday i was there to distribute yellow ribbons. this friday i will lobby for media freedom petition from benar. if you are coming, don’t forget to sign the memorandum for media freedom ok.

a little bit about the vigil i attended last friday. i was surprised to see prof. azmi sharom there! i had just blog about him couple of days ago. he was standing alone near a tree. at first i didn’t know it was him. when i went up to give him a yellow ribbon, i thought his face is familiar so i asked him "are you azmi sharom?". he said yes so i told him, that the first time i saw him was at a ‘islamisation in malaysia’ forum in our church. then i told him i enjoy his articles and had just blog about him (and 3 other malay bloggers). he was very friendly. i think he came from the freedom film fest too. heard from a friend he was at the fest on sunday too.

another lovely surprise for me during the vigil was when a man i gave a ribbon to suddenly asked me "you are lucia lai, the blogger, right? i read your blog regularly". eh? got somebody recognise me eh. never expect that since me no famous blogger. and he proceeded to say he read my blog everyday. wah! i felt so happy and proud lah.

well he was not the only one. there was a lady too, whom i only know vaguely, who after taking the ribbon from me, said to me that she reads my blog.

actually there are quite a number of bloggers around during that friday but most of them i don’t know/can’t recognise. i realise that edmund r of ‘betel nut chronicles’ blog, the one who wrote a good piece on the race relations act, titled ‘race relation actors’ (which i put up on my blog post) was there too but i didn’t know. it’s a good sign to see bloggers coming all out to support GMI’s candlelight vigil. i hope this friday i will meet bloggers again – don’t be shy, don’t remain secretive, identify yourself! this goes to readers of my blog too.
