back from the media skill workshop

i’m back in penang after attending the media  skill worshop in KL on saturday. as like the last trip, stayed at the archdiocesan pastoral centre (APC). picture here shows the view taken from my room’s window (5th floor).  on the foreground is the st anthony’s church, which is located at the same premises of the APC.  it is a huge premise actually, with the APC centre, where there are conference rooms and meeting rooms and so on and course rooms for lodging. the APC is also there the office of the herald and the catholic asian news are located. then there is the stella maris school next to the APC and next to the APC is the cahayasuara communications centre, the place where i had the workshop.

ah here you can see the room i stayed in. of course not a 5 stars hotel. these rooms are available mostly for people who are attending seminars in APC. it’s only RM70 per room – double room too, so if shared, one person only RM35. very worth the money as it is a very comfortable room. quity big and roomy with a fan and air-con, equip with hot-water too. it is very convenient for me to just walk 2 blocks away to attend the workshop. oh, and the place is near to puduraya – indeed very convenient since i took the express bus from puduraya (penang to kl also stop at puduraya).

ok so how was the workshop? this module 2 was on news and features writing, and it include sub-editing and interview for a story. it was facilitated by a lady who is a sub-editor from the star. it was an interesting and informative workshop – much better than module 1.  there were only 7 participants but i like it this way – prefer small group. we did a lot of exercise – e.g. how to write interesting opening line, sub-edit some real articles and interview one of the cahayasuara centre’s staff for a story! all in all, i learned a lot and i’m glad that i did attend it after all, as earlier i thought due to my condition (just recovered from constipation) i can’t go. well, i’m looking forward to future workshop or course not only from cahayasuara but other organisations as well, as i sure need help in improving my writing skill… er… nope… i’m not skilled yet… so better use ‘writing techniques’.
