hishamuddin’s doublespeak

on 20 march, the star reported:

The crowd, led by Selangor Umno Youth chief Abdul ShukurIdrus, also hit out at DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang for calling for a boycott of the swearing-in of the executive council in Perak because the act was disrespectful towards the Sultans who were highly respected by the Malays.

Abdul Shukur also said that PKR and DAP had been disrespectful and insensitive towards the Malays when they supported the move to abolish the New Economic Policy which had benefited both the Malays and other races.  

then the next day, 21 march, we see the headline in the sun saying ‘hishamuddin: UMNO youth not behind protest’.

PUTRAJAYA (March 21, 2008):Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today denied that the wing was behind the demonstrations staged against the new state governments recently.

"I don’t know whether they (Youth members) were involved in the rallies. … definitely it’s not planned by me or Umno Youth," he said in a press conference after the first post-cabinet meeting of the 12th government’s Education Ministry.

huh? what gives, hishamuddin? clearly it was reported in the star that the crowd was lead by selangor UMNO youth chief abdul shukur, and why were you saying the youth wing was not involved? the reported even mentioned what abdul shukur said about PKR and DAP – clearly he was involved in the protest but here we have the kerismuddin guy denying his precious ‘good boys’ UMNO youth not involved.

wind back to 13 march, in utusan malaysia, kerismuddin was heard to bash DAP as biadap (rude) and gilakan kuasa (power hungry) when he urged his men to boycott the perak MB swearing in ceremony at the istana:

KUALA LUMPUR 13 Mac – DAP bertindak biadab apabila mengarahkan Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (ADUN) daripada parti itu memulaukan majlis angkat sumpah pelantikan Menteri Besar di hadapan Pemangku Raja Perak, Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah yang sepatutnya berlangsung hari ini.

“Niat memulaukan istiadat pelantikan juga menunjukkan mereka hanya gilakan kuasa sehingga sanggup membelakangkan kesetiaan kepada raja dan negara,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini hari ini.

ok. fine. then on 22 march we heard that 22 UMNO assemblymen will boycott the terengganu MB swearing in at the istana.

so my dear, mr education who like to wave the keris, are you now going to accuse those UMNO assemblymen as biadap and gilakan kuasa?

well, actually not only kerismuddin but if you look at the utusan malaysia report again, other UMNO leaders also bashed lim kit siang. well even in the earlier report from the star about the selangor UMNO youth chief in a protest, he also hit out at LKSfor being disrespectful. ok ok you are all right, LKS was biadap, gilakan kuasa, disrespectful, blah blah blah. then since the 22 UMNO assemblymen from terengganu was going to do what LKS did, you all should also bashed them as biadap, gilakan kuasa, disrespectful.

will they? well since it is their culture to protest but not when the lawyers, bersih, hindraf did it……. we all know the answer.
