UMNO AGM on deepavali day

how insensitive of them… but then it ain’t a surprise at all since UMNO is the lord and king of the nation! UMNO rules the country, remember (not BN). whatever they do, could not be wrong… but what if, say MIC’s AGM is on hari raya, so asked a malaysiakini writer.

S Samy Vellu’s statement saying that Indian Malaysians are not offended by Umno’s move to hold its annual general assembly during Deepavali is not surprising. Indian Malaysians are a forgotten lot, not only in Umno circle but elsewhere as well.

sadly, i have to agree. why is it for hari raya and chinese new year, there are 2 days holidays while for deepavali only 1? and what is that ayo-yo samy guy doing? practically nothing since he practically kow-tow to the mighty UMNO.

Deepavali is a national festival – that’s what the government said and declared. It’s a day where we expect people to visit their friends and exchange greetings in the spirit of muhibah and unity.
How will Umno react if MIC, or MCA, were to hold their AGMs during Hari Raya?

for sure, the UMNOputera ministers will made lots of noises and accused MIC of this and that and in the end our dear samy, as usual, has to kiss UMNO’s ass and will not hold it during their hari raya.

To bolster my argument that Indian Malaysians are being marginalised, when I called a private TV station recently and asked about their programmes for Deepavali, imagine my shock when they said they did not plan any Deepavali campaign – this is the same TV station which had promoted Diwali extensively in past. Why?

because they are busy planning campaign for UMNO’s AGM? they will be very busy having to cover the AGM then reporting it, see.

ok, let’s talk about the AGM. i was aghast when i saw right on the front cover of the star dated 26 oct. he small headline that says "all can be said at the assembly".

whoa! goodness! all? ALL? so it’s ok that they attack others all in the name of their race and religion?

then as i read further the article, something jumped up at me and made me go LOL!

“Umno is really mature. We leave it to the delegates. They know what to do. They know how to behave,” he told reporters after a press briefing on the Nov 5 to 9 assembly.

they know how to behave? don’t make me laugh. oops. i already did laughed. for just one example, look at the very recent case of one of your member, the bad-rude-in guy... how he behaved in parliament. you call that matured?

while in malaysiakini, the report goes:

There will be no live telecast of the proceedings at this year’s Umno annual general assembly (AGM), neither is there any directive to party delegates to ‘tone down’ their speeches, said Umno secretary-general Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad.

oh? so it’s ok for them to repeat last year’s fiery speeches that borders on sedition?

“We’ve never made any such attempts. Never. Umno is mature. We’ll leave it to the delegates,” Radzi told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today after a briefing on the party’s upcoming AGM scheduled for Nov 5-9.

there it is again – ‘UMNO is mature’. excuse me while i laugh. LOL!  radzi continue making me laugh…

Umno delegates know enough not to speak on cases pending in court, launch personal attacks or insult royalty, said Radzi.

‘launch personal attacks’. weren’t they already doing it all the time in parliament?

When asked repeatedly about concerns that Umno delegates would again deliver fiery speeches or raises keris during the speeches or debates this year, Radzi urged people not to be “so sensitive.”

“What’s wrong with (raising the keris)? Don’t be so sensitive, lah. If we’re over-sensitive with these kind of things, tak boleh, lah.”

tsk, tsk. just look at them. 1) still stuborn saying nothing’s wrong with raising the keris. there were already lots of explanation going around (including from moderate muslims themselves) why they find the shielding of the keris as not ‘proper. and yet UMNO is forever saying there’s nothing wrong with it.

over-sensitive? who is telling who what? i still remember what wits0 wrote – "sensitivity works both way" but the high and mighty UMNO always wants us to be sensitive to them but they are not sensitive to us at all.

well, let’s see how the AGM goes…
