the ‘leak’ in putrajaya – sabah DCM resignation – ghoulish exhibition canceled – fatwa on online investment – bounty on the dogs’ heads!

these are some old news (last week) which i had not blog on but which i will do so now in brief form and add in my own view (but of course, isn’t this what blogging is about? share my personal view on some news that had happened!).

1. the ‘water-leak’ embarrassment at putrajaya!

no no, the water leak has no reference to human. it was a burst pipe on the 7th flo. of the immigration dept. in putrajaya, which caused water to spilled down to the lower floors.

indeed what an embarrassment to the gomen to think it happened in a RM200million building right in putrajaya.

after the incident came the blame game, as expected.  should the public works dept. (PWD) be blamed? should the contractor be blamed? of course the former pushed the blame to the latter… but wasn’t the former who appointed the latter?

it is PWD’s job to supervise the contractor’s work and the maintenance work also to be done by PWD, isn’t it? if so, then the blame should fall on PWD more than on the contractor.

2.  the resignation of a very top BN minister is not a loss at all

gee, if you had worked for your boss for over 10 years and when you resigned, your boss said "your resignation is not a loss to us at all" how would you feel?

i worked for my previous boss, an architect, for exactly 10 years and when i resigned she said she was sorry to see me leave and even gave me a gift of appreciation in the form of a gold pendant.

now, i’m not asking our PM to give a gift to sabah DCM, chong kah kiat, who
announced his decision to quit the sabah cabinet, but why on earth did he had to say "it’s not a losst to BN’??  imagine! chong being so loyal to BN and was in BN for so many years, and to hear this from the top man of BN. can’t he be more subtle and say "we are sorry to see you go and we thank you for being with the BN all these years. we appreciate your service with the BN." oh no! he can’t say that since that would not be what he meant so if he did said that, he would be a hypocrite so ok lah, at least he was honest to tell it straight to chong’s face "go lah! leave BN! who cares! it’s no loss to BN at all!" (exaggerated by me).

3.  an exhibition can shake the faith of muslim

are the faith of muslim that weak?

this was the exhibition on ghosts, ghouls and supernatural beings held at the negeri sembilan museum. islamic scholars had declared the show as ‘un-islamic’ and ‘deterimental to muslim’s faith’

the negeri sembilan state government decided to close the show after the national fatwa council ruled that this kind of show is forbidden in islam. and what reason do you think the national council gave? "it could undermine muslims’ faith".

was the council speaking for all muslim? i would like to ask my muslim friends, will your faith be undermined after you attend the exhibition? ok if some muslim felt that it would, so just stay away from the exhibition, simple as that… and let the exhibition go on so that others may enjoy the exhibition.

4.  fatwa again – online investment

The religious decree issued by the National Fatwa Council declaring online investments as "haram" (forbidden) should be accepted, respected and observed by Muslims, Deputy Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.

ok me feel that by this time someone will be on the verge of saying to me that very lame remark "you are not a muslim, so you should not comment on muslim issue".

well ok i’m not going to comment on anything else but just to ask two questions:

– how will the council knows if the muslim invest online? after all it’s all done at home in front of the computer.
– what about earnings via advertising on websites? i guess this is ok as it is not consider investment?

5.  wanted dead!  – RM50,000 reward

lucky and flo had a bounty on their head – RM50,000 each! imagine! are they the new bonnie and clyde pair, decades ago famous wanted fugitive? nah, they are not humans but two labrador dogs.

lucky and flo were on loan from motion picture association of  america, brought in to sniff out illegal DVD. they had uncovered caches of pirated discs worth more than 1 million ringgit hidden in secret compartments at 11 shops at the
holiday plaza mall in southern johor. naturally those illegal DVD makers were not happy, thus the bounties on lucky and flo.

gee, if someone would be as greedy as to want the RM50,000, it means that person is breaking the law, right? s/he will be helping the music and movie pirates! so will anyone go for it? RM50,000 is a lot of money you know. very tempting.

if the movie and music pirates so badly want lucky and flo… dead, why don’t they themselves do something about it – try to kill the dogs themselves instead of putting bounties on their head. oh silly me… they want extra help… who knows they might be trying to do that already!
