disco that will attract gays
UPDATED 20/12/06, 0023 AM
it seems that there will be no disco at all. according to takiyuddin, the state, local, government, housing and health chairman, the government had never intended to have a disco. they claimed they were misquoted by the media. well whether it is true or not that they were misquoted, it’s good to hear that they are not allowing a disco, as i had said before, might as well don’t have it at all.

when i went to ktemoc blog, he was the 2nd person i came across, who felt that the idea of nik aziz saying ok to a discotheque BUT men and women to be separated, is like he is opening the floodgates for gays to converge. the first person i came across who talked about this is ahpek.
indeed i am in total agreement with both of them. when i first heard about kelantan considering starting a disco, the first thing i know they will forbid is liquor. that is understandable and for me, without liquor i don’t really mind. secondly, i knew they would go over this hoo-haa of women dressed decently for the disco. ok fine, no problem with that too… but then came the clinch – men and women must be separated – men dance with men and women dance with women. i like go… huh?? i thought dancing is suppose to be between both sexes. yes, granted most disco dance, both same sexes can dance together. why, i had a number of times disco dance with my female friends… but that was in a disco where men and women are not separated, where men can dance with women and vice versa… and it was the individual who choose to dance with her/his own same sex. whereas in kelantan’s case, you have no choice.
well, most people the moment they think of a disco for men only or women only, of course the first thing that came into their mind would be – gay! (like what ktemoc and ahpek felt). well some shy non gays may like to go to dance with their own sex but it also encourage gays to converge at the disco, don’t you think so?
star columnist, wong chun wai also shook his head at an all male disco.
The Kelantan Mentri Besar has said he has no problem with dancing but it has to be strictly between men and men. And of course, women and women. We can imagine the kind of tourists Kelantan would soon be attracting.
that is basically also what ktemoc was trying to say, where the heading of his blog says it all – kelantan would attract gays then if it has a all male disco.
granted that due to PAS’s conservative thinking, they may want to segregate men and women. but in a disco? if they can’t have men and women together, then might as well, don’t start the disco at all.
