apostates are a threat to public order & security

hi there! right now i’m in my brother’s house (in singapore) typing this. i see i had missed a lot of interesting news, especially the one about registering bloggers. i spy it from what a lulu’s blog first. later, i notice our taiko blogger, jeff ooi had also blog on it. well, i have nothing to worry about since i’m blogging here with my real name (and with my picture too) but i am concerned if a law is passed that every bloggers should register. it is an infrngement on an individual’s rights.

well, don’t wanna talk much about that now. today as i get online, i randomly try to visit an online media to pick up a news to discuss here and i came across this from sun2surf – about the call to use ISA on muslim apostates. the NGOs were shocked! i was shocked too!!

GMI was responding to press reports yesterday that quoted International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) law lecturer Dr Zulkifly Muda as saying the ISA could be used against apostates because they could be deemed a threat to public order and security.

‘a threat to public order and security? my goodness! in what way? such nonsense! i don’t know what else to say. (gotta go offline anyway. 🙂 )

Hi Lucia,
I always enjoy reading your blog, but this is the my first time comment….

In my whole life I have met two Muslims who have joined another religion.
One is a Singaporean Malay who has openly converted to Catholicism – its perfectly legal in Singapore, though there is still a considerable social stigma involved. His work frequently takes him to KL, and its tough for him here. To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, he takes Muslim food and behaves appropriately, just doesn’t go to a mosque, and doesn’t attend church in KL.

Another, a Malaysian who has joined a Baptist church. She has to do this in secret. Her parents, who are actually quite westernised, broad-minded Malays, have found out and are very unhappy about it. To everyone else she pretends to be a non-practicing Muslim, which isn’t that unusual in a place like KL. She’s still young, but when she gets to the stage where she wants to settle down and start a family , I think things are going to get very complicated and nasty indeed.
Are they a threat to national security ? No ! By all measures, they are both very moral and exemplary human beings. The apostasy issue is simply a manifestation of the growing extremism in Muslim society.

A real and more serious social problem is the growing number of Malay youths (and youths of all races for that matter) who do not really have any religous faith at all. To me, practicing one’s religious faith (in moderation) is an important bedrock to life, and many youngsters who have little or no religious upbringing end up seriously alienated and aimless. By the way, I’m a serious Buddhist, with many Muslim, Hindu and Christian friends.

To complete the claptrap, it really takes two hands to clap. First the mindless spew from the politicians et al emitting from the wrong orifice AND the MSM’s reporting ala uncritical pronouncement of wisdom on that.

This Abim rogue takes encouragement possibly from a hidden wink from No.1. Similarly with body snatching, temple demolishing.

The Star reports on the crackdown on women’s sexy dressing now in Kelantan as if the same isn’t being surreptitiously pursued in the other states as well.

True to expectation, sexist matters are used by the MSM, to divert attention away from the real issues of the day. That same old diversionary scheme is employed each and everytime following issues which the gomen cannot and will not face.

On the face of it stupid. Looks like these politicians will do or say anything as long as it is de flavour of the day, & hopefully their Bosses take notice and they can keep their jobs, maybe some promotions along the way !
How low can a human go ?

They can go that low as low as u want, these freeloaders ( as the Malaysian likes to call them ).

Truly no principles ( What ? ) In a few months time this rare word will become Xtinct in Malaysia ! along with the leatherback turtles.
