blogs and bloggers
today is international webloggers day (shorten to inweday)! have you signed up to participate? it’s not too late! just submit your blog’s name to the site and write a post… on any topic at all… and don’t forget to mention international webloggers day. simple as that.
ok since it is inweday, what better topic for me to write on than about blogs and bloggers. i am inspired to write this after reading howsy’s post on the 5 types of blogs. i will quote his 5 types of blogs and add my comments… and include the kind of bloggers.
(warning! long post ahead!)
1. Hatred blog.
Mainly directed against an individual. Or an institution. Or a club, if you know what I mean.
oh like the badai group (anti IFC). oops. but they don’t blog. 🙂
oh yeah. there used to be a hatred blog directed at bloggers too… mainly at those popular bloggers. sounds like a jealous blog. oh well i guess hatred and jealousy goes hand in hand at times.
hatred blog blogger: maybe this kind of blogger were once reprimanded by a blogger, so she/he gets mad, but not only does s/he gets mad, s/he wants to get even – so s/he starts a blog to release steam – let go all the hatred within!
2. Bigotry blog.
Mainly pertaining to a particular race or religion, thinking that it is ultimately superior than the others.
aha! methinks many of us knows one particular popular bigotry blog out there. this blogger recently made news wave around the blogosphere when he mentioned about wiping off a particular religion off the earth.
bigotry blog blogger: what else to say but a blogger who is too obssessed with her/his own religion/race!
3. Mockery blog.
Generally hopping on a popularity of a well-known blog, a ‘celeb’ blog or a blog with a high site-traffic. For example, The Sensintrovert could be mocked as The Seweltrovert or something like that, if you know what I mean. Blogs belonging to this kind might be created just out of pure jealousy, or even a stalker/groupie of the original blog! The posts mainly satire about the original blog’s particular post or a certain phrase. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?
i kind of like these type of blogs. they are pretty harmless and fun. just imagine someone making a mockery blog of my blog… with the name ‘mental case’! “lucia lai jogs too much that not only she suffers from mental block, but she ends up being a mental case and is now in a mental home.” swell. 🙂
i remember the jalan riong blog which mocks the new strait times. then there was this blog that imitate jeff ooi’s blog too – some name like bolehtalk, i think.
mockery blog blogger: the kind of blogger must sure be a most creative person! well, as long as, we who were being mocked at doesn’t take it to heart, let’s salute the mockery blog blogger! mockery blogs won’t last, i notice.
4. Character assasination blog.
Famous across the Causeway, not sure whether they are found here or not. Almost like the mockery blog but more harsh, aggressive and may even use the same name as the original blog. For example like The SensinStupidTrovert or something like that.
i’m sure they are found here. don’t think that our neighbour down south are worst than us lah. yes i do remember a few blogs of this nature. hey, under mockery blog, i had already given an example of how people can turn my blog name into something er… somethiing mental? 🙂
5. Bitching blog.
Not to be mistaken with a blog with the same name, these kind of blog rants about almost everything under the sun, with no strong research of evidence and examples to support their points at all; mainly giving out sweeping statements. In short, it could be taken as a dog barking up a tree with no apparent reason. Normal occasional rants in a blog should not be mistaken as belonging to this category.
we have lots of bitching blogs in the malaysian blogosphere. some can be pretty interesting. oh well if they rant about everything under the sun, i have no problem with that… but if they bitch and rant directed at other people/bloggers, then i don’t particularly like these kind of bloggers. i would also lable them as ‘self righteous blogger’.
bitching (self-righteous) blogger: this kind of blogger (let’s call her/him BSB) likes to hit out at other bloggers. they just cannot tahan to see/note what other bloggers did and rant about them… BUT without mentioning names. e.g a blogger who does all CnP job, the BSB will rant on how wrong it is, not fair for the blogger to do a CnP job and get traffic, and get ads revenue, blah blah blah. if s/he does a CnP job, it’s ok but when others did it, s/he will rant about it.
BSB will also bitch about how and what someone did to attract traffic… again not mentioning names but subtly hinting points/facts here and there until people will recognise who s/he is talking about. ha! as though s/he doesn’t do that!
BSB will also be the one who bitch about how other bloggers are causing a rift, disharmony, tension and so on with their posts.
please, i’m not targetting anyone at all with what i wrote above regarding blogs and bloggers ok?
before i end this long post, to make it longer, i will bitch about how i blog.
as many of you aware, i blogs mainly on socio-politics issues. and how or where do i get ‘materials’ to blog? why, of course from the media or other sources… OR other bloggers. and if i get the materials somewhere, i have to quote them, right? so you see, it is a CnP effort too… BUT i add in my comments. 90% of the time i will add in my comments (see the example right here, i copy/quote from howsy but i add my comments – why, some of my comments are longer than the quote). the other 10% sometimes i just add “agree” or “exactly how i feel” – nothing wrong with that, right?
also, since we blog on current news, it’s only right at times we have to use news headlines for our blog title.
my dears, that’s how a socio-politics blog works… unlike diarist/personal/bitching blog, who blogs on personal stuff, don’t have to quote anywhere. even our taiko blogger, quotes a lot from other sources in his blog.
speaking of which, this reminds me. i am contemplating of starting another blog – a personal blog. no doubt, here, i do blog on personal stuff now and then but since this blog is more for socio-politics, i try to have less personal posts BUT in actual fact i do have lots to talk about personally, and i don’t like to combine both together. so i was thinking maybe it would be good if i have another blog for posts on personal stuffs… well… yes… on bitching too. (but don’t worry, i won’t be a BSB since i don’t like BSB!). the problem is of course to find time to manage both blogs! well… let’s see… for the moment now, i’ll just use this blog for everything under the sun.
having said all that, for those who wish to know why and how i start blogging, i have it up in my blog ‘eternally’ – that is right on top, below the header, under ‘how, why and what‘.
