UMNO rules
all hail the great UMNO! the supreme UMNO! first UMNO represents the public, then now it represents the cabinet/gomen/parliament… when it is up to them to decide on the fate of the movie ‘lelaki komunis terakhir’ (the last communist) by amir muhammad.
the movie was approved by the national censorship board but the home minister, radzi, banned the movieon 5 may. radzi is also UMNO secretary general. then on 21 may, the movie was shown to MPs and the media, including the culture, arts and heritage minister, rais yatim, who found nothing offensive in the movie. there were also many other views from those who had seen the movie that day. (refer to jeff’s blog for some of the views).
now, after hearing the views, radzi said that it will be up to the UMNO supreme council to decide on whether the movie should be banned or not,and not up to the cabinet. huh? come again? does this means UMNO is higher than the cabinet? oh dear me! i forgot. UMNO IS the cabinet. bolehland is rule by UMNO!! (“huh?” a small voice said. “is that news? yawn!”).
UPDATED: rais yatim said the gomen will decide on the fate of the movie, not UMNO. should i be relieved? nah! the gomen is UMNO. UMNO is the gomen. UMNO controls the gomen. anything UMNO said, the gomen will most probably support them or on their side. look at rais talking here (the above link)… he sided radzi, saying he was doing the right thing to ban the movie as the movie does glorify chin peng. see?
