good guys suffer…

… or at a disadvantage.

(before i proceed… a note to the uninitiated – guys here does not mean only the male lah but means persons of either sex.)

look… this (picture) is the corridor outside our unit… dark… taken at 8.00pm. there were no lights! of course there are suppose to be lights at the corridors and stairs but few days ago the lights were switched off by the management. why? 90% of the dwellers in our unit did not pay their monthly maintenence fee… and mind you, it is only less than RM50 (because ours is a very old flat).

we paid up the fee every month, right on time. these people who did not pay had been defaulting their fees for months and months, even when the penang development corporation (PDC – owner of our flat) sent reminders they couldn’t care less. what a @%!&^(^!*! attitude! since they do not want to pay, PDC decide to teach them a lesson but cutting off the lights. that is not fair because it affect us, the ‘good guys’ who pay up regularly… but what to do, life is not fair all the time.

it is quite dark if we come home after 8.00pm or so. old people would have problems watching their steps up the stairs. we have to use torchlight when going up the stairs. ok as if being dark and we can’t see properly is enough problem… another worst problem is that, i don’t know how but the power use to light up the corridors affect our tv aerial. without this power, we are not able to watch tv at all. only those with astro, using the astro aerial will be able to watch tv.

argh!! no tv! luckily i’m not a tv addict (am computer addict) and i rarely watch tv but pity my mum who wants to watch tv everyday, esp. the news. and my sis who wants to watch the chinese serial (though she’s not addcited to it).

see, this is so unfair. we are the good guys, we pay up in time, yet we have to suffer.

a friend told me in another different block of apartment, there were some dwellers who refuse to pay up too, and you know what, the management did to entice them to pay? offer them free gifts! why, i never heard of such thing! see, they, the ‘bad guys’ are at an advantage. don’t want to pay or pay late, got gifts. the good guys who pays up in time got nothing.

this reminds me of several months back when the traffic police offer discount to traffic offenders. see, good guys who paid up in time had to pay up the full amount while bad guys who refused to pay, got some ‘incentive’ instead.

then of course we have this thing about ‘it doesn’t pay to be a good samaritan’, which i disagree lah but am bringing it up to bring up a point about my subject post. e.g. a man helped a girl being bullied by 3 hooligans and he ended up getting bashed, hence the saying ‘doesn’t pay to be a good samiritan’… which also means good guys suffer, right?
(note: pleaes, i’m not saying that we should stop helping people in need for fear of ‘suffering’ ok).

i wonder how long will the power at our corridor/stairs remained off. forever and ever? then poor us got no tv to watch. maybe it’s time for me to buy astro… the cheapest basic package. another alternative is for us to install some kind of aerial.

oh, apart from this no lights problem, since it was because of non paying of the maintenence fees, our flat had become so dirty because nobody sweep the place! arghh!! not fair! we are the nice guys, we pay up regularly for the maintenence but just because of some… many in fact… stupid idiots bl***y selfish dwellers here, we have to suffer without lights and endure dirty corridors and stairs.

gee… maybe next time i’ll rethink being a nice guy. 🙂
