towering over the pyramid

i don’t get it, someone please enlighten me. how on earth can draping the jalur gemilang (malaysian flag) on the pyramid of giza in egypt be consider as a peace mission? oh, and a ‘towering malaysian’ deed too.

UPDATE: they are not going to drap only the jalur gemilang but also the flags of world’s 57 muslim countries grouped under the organisation of the islamic conference (OIC).

it was reported yesterday that an expedition named “malaysian peace mission”, estimated to cost close to RM200,000, and which will be funded by the selangor government, youth and sports ministry, ex-servicemen’s affairs corporation (perhebat), and programme sponsors, is scheduled to be held from may 15 to 27.

funded by the gomen! RM200,000!! and for what? to get into the malaysia book of records!

wait! there’s more. during the 13 days expedition, the team (which might include two cabinet ministers, mind you) will get to go makan angin visiting mosques and other interesting historical sights in cairo, AND the team leader will say “i do” in front of the pyramid.

whoa! how nice if i get to makan angin and get married in a foreign land all FOC.

our DPM, najib, said this expedition was in response to our PM, pak lah’s call on producing ‘towering malaysians’. so back to my first paragraph – in what way will draping the jalur gemilang over the pyramid reflect that they are towering malaysians?

note: jeff ooi of screenshot also blog on this subject hours after i did.
