i’ll be off for a seminar during this long weekend. nah, not going out-station but the seminar is right here in penang. i’m one of the organisers. boy! had so much to do past few days. it’s no joke being the organisers. it’s open for members from kedah and perak. i’ll be there on 1st may saturday and return on 3rd may monday. so there’ll be no posts from me for this weekend.

so we are having a long weekend holiday… anyone going anywhere or doing anything? it seems that this long weekend is so popular that lots of people had made plans during this weekend. hotels had reported lots of bookings. i guess those popular tourist spots like genting, langkawi, cameron highlands, melaka, penang!! would be full of ‘local’ tourists.

yes, it was reported in the star’s metro section of yesterday that they expect 100,000 vehicles to jam the streets in penang during this long weekend. penang is a popular holiday spot for local tourists. already yesterday afternoon, around 1.00pm, there were heavy traffic all round penang island. i was out at 2.00pm to go to the bank and caught in a crawl. well luckily i was with my beloved chaly (and not kancil or volvo) so easy for me to squeeze in here and there. i was nearly knocked down at one stage, when i squeezed in the middle of the road and did not let the traffic on the straight road towards my left passed first. the driver honked at me and i pretend i didn’t hear and just went about weaving in and out of the traffic. well, one have to be brave to do that… if not wait until the cows come home, you can’t get to your destination!

i don’t like to go for holiday (i mean domestic holiday) during public holidays, esp. like this one, with weekend too. this is because too many people are going for a holiday too at this time. the places would be very crowded. i did ventured out of penang twice during public hols… once during agong’s birthday to genting and once during merdeka day to taiping zoo. so heavy traffic during the travelling, and so crowded at the destination places that i vowed not to go ‘makan angin’ again during public hols. not only that places are crowded during long public hols but prices go up!! like the bus ticket, the food!!

speaking of bus ticket, well even if you take your own car, from today onwards, it’ll cost more – yep petrol price increase again! happy labour day? we labour so hard to earn a living and everything goes up and up… what’s so happy about it?
