DAP’s two KS

the two KS of DAP – kit siang and karpal singh, had been in the news lately because of their shift to contest in other constituencies.

first we heard of kit siang going to contest in ipoh timur, while karpal in PJ utara. but now the latest news is karpal will be back in penang to contest in the bukit gelugor seat.

when news of these 2 going to move away from penang, michael fong (a long time friend from my sangkancil days) an active member in the bungaraya list was concerned about no one (at least from the oppositon) left in penang to ‘rearguard penang’.

according to michael, since this could be karpal’s last contest, he should go back to the constituency that had backed him up for 5 terms – i.e. jelutong. yes, karpal used to be a stronghold in jelutong and was known as ‘the tiger of jelutong’. (why did michael used ‘lion’ insted i wonder). he lost his jelutong seat in the last GE (1999) with a small margin to a first timer gerakan man.

this time karpal is coming back to penang but he is not going to contest in jelutong. he’ll contest at bukit gelugor instead. who will be his opponent in bukit gelugor? closet hero in jeff’s screenshot mentioned lim boo chang, but i thought lim boo chang’s in datuk keramat. remember lim boo chang? he and the lady MP tan something (forgot her name) were suspended when they did not want to put thier vote for the PORR issue.

i wonder… whether karpal contest in jelutong or bukit gelugor, i’m not too confident he will win. after his lost in the 1999 GE, he seemed to ‘disappear’ from penang scene.
