polls on 21 march?
according to this malaysiakini report, polling date would most likely be on 21 march.
parliament is expected to be dissolved on friday, and the election commission is expected to call for nomination of candidates on 13 march, which means to say campaigning period will last for only 8 days if the polls are on 21 march.
according to election commission chief abdul rashid abdul rahman, the campaign period will coincide with a one-week school break scheduled to begin from 13 march to 21 march.
hmm… so it looks like 21 march is most likely going to be the date. now… only 20 days to go to decide who to vote for. forget the great dilemma of whether to use colour or B&W film to capture bush’s impending death. this is the real dilemma now!! who to vote for??
in my recent blog, BA’s manifesto, sudo_nim had this to say in comments:
“on the one hand you have the ruling coalition which is corrupt but is willing to compromise with the minorities. On the other hand you have the BA which is autocratic wanting to impose barbaric laws (hudud).”
so who to vote? is this a case of between the devil and the deep blue sea? oh, there’s another saying of better the devil you know than the angel you didn’t know. so is BN the devil here and BA the angel? better we vote the devil we know? and let the devil continue with its evil act??? should we give the angel a chance and see how the angel would turned out? worst, the angel might turn out to be the devil… but we already had the devil with us all along, so what could be worst????
methinks perhaps i would resort to the old style of voting BA BN for state seat and opposition for parliament seat. the reason most people do this is, i think, they feel only the BA BN is rich enough to do things for them in their constituency, while they need someone to shout and oppose the govt. in parliament. but then of course it also depends on who’s the one contesting the state seat. although i may favour BN but if it is some ministers i don’t like then i just might not vote for BN.
i still don’t know which constituency i’m under. you see, last week i had just registered with my new address and everyday when i check the election registration site i see it has not been updated. the old record of my old address still shows. gawd, it’s been 7 days and they never updated their site?
well since election date is drawing, you’ll notice that i had put up some election watch sites on my blog (see right sidebar). it’ll be easy for you to just click on them to check up on latest news of the polls.
UPDATED!3 mar 1720hrs: parliament will be dissolved this thursday!
