Peerless Patriot & Prince (about RPK)
Peerless Patriot & Prince
By Martin Jalleh
Umno’s “internal security” is being severely threatened. The Umno elite are scared stiff as their political survival is seriously at stake. Split into camps, they scramble to save themselves.
The PM and DPM put on a see-through smile together as they sit side-by-side – and struggle with the hidden question – who is going to sink or swim by the end of the “show”?
The sad and solitary-looking president of Umno is stunned and left speechless after the Umno supreme council made a decision to “smoothen” his early exit.

leave BN and let UMNO sink!!
when i read this heading in lim kit siang’s blog - ‘over 60% of grassroots in gerakan, MCA, MIC and over 80% of sabah/sarawak parties want to quit BN’ - i said to myself "ya! leave! gerakan, MCA and MIC should leave BN and let umno be damned!!".
do you realised that it is because of all these non umno component parties of BN that gave ‘power’ to umno? and yet look how they were treated. i believe ex gerakan president himself said umno treated them like a servant and some commenters in LKS blog used the word ‘whore’. ya, umno treated gerakan, MCA, MIC like whores. then why are they still hanging on in BN?

zoo’ zoo’ zoo’ allah zoo

allah zooo’ zooo’ zooo

oh please! to those sensitive muslim or silly (?) ones (eggs can be insulted, remember?), please do not file a police report (that seems to be the trend now) on me for insulting allah… associating it with zoo or whatever. ok?
first of all, this is a song (more like a chant) from nigeria. secondly, this is to show that allah does not belongs specifically to malaysian muslim only?
yesterday i attended the ‘migrant sunday’ celebration at the church in butterworth. there were those from vietnam, myanmar, sri lanka, india, philippine, indonesia and nigeria. each of them present an item for the show and the nigerians present 3 songs of praise. they gave our paper with the lyrics to everyone.
they sing 3 songs of praise. and this one ‘zoo’ zoo’ zoo’ allah zoo’ means ‘come come come god’. the language is from the hausa tribe in nigeria.
NOTE: anti-ISA vigil photos can now be found at my photo album
NOTE 2: yesterday just passed my 5 years blogging anniversary.

anti-ISA candlelight vigil
attended the anti-ISA candlelight vigil last night at dewan sri pinang, after i attended the freedom film fest. there were so many people - about 300 i think. last friday i heard there were only about 80 or so. i guess this friday (i mean yesterday), it being near the hari raya holidays, many people around. still it can’t beat the first night - on 14 sept - vigil where there were 400 people.

freedom film fest 2008 in penang
ahhh…. should have blog about this yesterday. the filming already started yesterday at 11.00am. anyway you still have chance to catch the movies today and tomorrow.
what is the freedom film fest? basically, the freedom film fest (organised by KOMAS) is the first film event of its kind in malaysia. FFF adopts the themes encompassed in the universal declaration of human rights (UDHR) which express our aspirations for genuine justice, peace, equality and democracy. go to the link and read about it. as for the schedule of the film screening, you can see it here.
i went last night to watch the award winning film ‘PRU 12′. PRU stands for ‘pilihanraya umun’ thus the film is about the 12th general election. i went with 3 of my colleagues and we arrived during the opening ceremony. managed to catch a group of 3 men singing. then jeff ooi, blogger and MP for jelutong gave a speech, followed by speech by aliran president, ramakrishnan.
we had to leave immediately PRU 12 ended as we had to get to dewan sri pinang for the anti-ISA candlelight vigil. there is another film after PRU 12. well, today i might not be able to attend but i can attend on sunday afternoon/evening.
remember for those of you who cares about human rights, peace, justice, democracy, do take time to attend some of the screenings. it’s free after all and held in a spacious venue.

malaysian oscars and movies
ok today as the weekend is here, for a change, instead of some serious political posts, here are something very funny for you to laugh at.
first of all, i came across this ‘malaysian political oscars’ from the blog of anil netto. this satire piece was written by huzir sulaiman. do click on the link and read it! then come back here, to watch this funny movies list which i got from a forwarded email list. i got it days ago, and when i saw this malaysian political oscars from huzir, i remember the movies, so thought mighs as well put up the two together.
tell everyone about the oscars nominations and the movies only from malaysia. at least have some break from all these depressing ISA and government takeover talk.

light a candle!
light a candle tonight! yes, don’t forget, penangites, tonight at 9.30pm at dewan sri pinang.(and henceforth every friday until 17/10).
i’ll be there early… to distribute yellow ribbons. someone from our church had decided to start a yellow ribbon campaign. she had cut hundreds of yellow ribbons to distribute in the church (cathedral of the holy spirit) this weekend. knowing that i’ll be at the vigil tonight, she had given me 200 pcs. to be distributed.
why yellow ribbon? well, yellow signify freedom and also support. the ribbon is for you to tie it to your car, bike, door… anywhere appropriate.

4 very ‘liberal’ malay bloggers
today instead of blogging on something everybody’s blogging about like the 10 cents petrol price cut or the actions to do for RPK or even the inflation (which seemed to be popular posts which many bloggers had blog on), i’m going to introduce to you four of my favourite malay bloggers (writer is more apt for them than blogger actually). not that you haven’t heard of them, i’m sure. they are very popular so i’m sure many have heard of them. lim kit siang is also very fond of them as i see many times he put up their posts in his blog.

malaysian government is against dissent and media freedom
from rocky bru’s blog:
Using the ISA on a blogger confirms that the Government of Malaysia tolerates neither dissent nor media freedom. We used to be able to say that the Malaysian Government did not censor the Internet, and therefore we enjoyed great media freedom (even though our more traditional Press are not as free). Now we can’t go around making that claim.
