linking chain to boost PR?

POSTED: Monday, 12/02/07, 2:06 AM   FILED: blogging, personal |

**Instructions**

Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favourite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own z-list posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers - got to be good!

Key Points
1) Create a new post on your blog.
2) Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
3) Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (Optional)
4) Include the blog where you first got the list from, on the list in your post.
5) Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post.
6) Make sure that all links are copied intact.
7) Publish the Post.

=====================

adam passed on the above to me when he mentioned my blog link in his post. i am suppose to add my blog on top, then choose 4 other blogs to add on top. then hopefully these 4 will be sporting enough to do this and thus the list will keep growing like a long chain, and your blog link will appears in many blogs… and thus it is supposedly to increase your page rank.

page rank? is page rank so important? i see there are quite a number of bloggers who are obssessed with page rank (ok i exaggerate to use the word ‘obssessed). they’ll feel so proud when they have high page rank… and of course announce it proudly. well… even a page rank  (PR) of 5 they are already happy. 5? well that was i got at my old blog at blogger (but i didn’t announced it!). although, after i imported my posts from blogger to wordpress (now using), and the old blog doesn’t seems to be working, it still generate PR 5…. while at this blog of mine, i get zero!! yep, that’s right! zero. nill. kosong.  this is what i don’t understand. mental jog at blogger (dead) get PR 5 while mental jog at wordpress here (very much alive) get zero.

am i worry that i have PR of nothing? nope. i know when my blog is not good enough or not popular, so if it is zero, who cares? after all PR is not a matter of life and death. however i start to worry about PR when i joined a few ‘blog for money’ companies like payperpost and review me…. because you see, to make a post for them to earn money, my blog need to have some PR. even PR 2 will do… but poor me got a PR 0, so you see, i lose the opportunity to blog for money!

if not for wanting to try my chance at blogging for money, i wouldn’t have worry about PR, but OTOH, i am not worried (or obssessed!) about wanting to blog for money. so it comes back to it really doesn’t matter to me that i have PR 0.

how does one make it that her/his blog might have a high PR… or at least some kind of PR. well from what i heard for one thing is that you need lots of people linking you. another thing is i heard about this er… what meta tag… right… thingy in your blog. adam mentioned about it. that i need to have meta tag in my blog template. well, as i’m non techie savvy, i don’t really know how to do that! i did try to add some kind of tag (from wordpress plugin) but it doesn’t seems to be working… or maybe i don’t know how to make it work. once tech guru, liewcf did told me that i need to move traffic from my blog at blogger to my blog here (wordpress) to get the page rank. he did showed me… but i did not understand the first time he told me so i asked him again but then there was no reply. guess maybe he get ‘geram; with me for being so er… stupid… er… slow.

anyway as i’m not really obssesed over earning money via blogging like ah pek it doesn’t really matter. further, to me i don’t really like to have lots of sponsored posts on my blog as i feel they are not related to what i like to blog about (socio political and personal), and thus less people will read my blog. i know… at some bloggers posts, if i spy sponsored posts, i hardly comment on them but if it is their personal posts, i will sure comment. that’s because sponsored posts are er… not personal lah… er… like going into a business blog! i also find it strange that one can review/write about some products that are not available locally… er… well i guess then this means they are targetting foreign visitors too to their blogs, not only local.

so what’s my conclusion? well of course if i can get high PR i’ll be happy but if i can’t and stuck with PR 0, i’ll still be happy… but OTOH i also want some PR to do some sponsored posts… but OTOH i also worried about having sponsored posts in my blog. well i guess then what i should do is to use my discreetion not to have too many sponsored posts….. but wait for that i’ll have to have some PR first! so it is back to square one - either i learn how to ‘optimise’ my blog for PR or i don’t give a damn about blogging for money.

yeah, better use my time and energy to grumble about the gomen.

(ok. the 4 that i added in - maverick, lynnee, fishtail, simple american - i hope you’ll not break the chain!)

Ya… I think there is 2 versions going round. I am on this list and not the other, though I don’t know who was the good samaritan who included me in this list.

2 versions? didn’t notice that. yes i had wanted to add your name (thus tagging you) but i see your name was already there. how come you didn’t know who added you? this is strange because the person who added you should let you know, then you are suppose to continue the chain by adding links of your own. so it seems you ‘escape’ from adding links and passing the chain around (yet your link is in). strange. that’s why i think this link chain is not working properly.
