women in sports arouse lust in men?

so the great game of the century had begun! we are now into the 5th day of the olympics, which now goes back to where it first began – athens!

according to the organisers, there are more women athletes competing in this year’s olympics. however, according to an article from amir taheri in the new york post, to the muslim world, the athens games will seems like a male dominated event. why? first of all very few muslim countries sent in participants and get this… a circular from the ministry of islamic guidance and culture in tehran asks TV editors to make sure that women’s games are not televised live because:

“images of women engaged in contests [sic] must be carefully vetted,” says the letter, leaked in tehran. “editors must take care to prevent viewers from being confronted [sic] with uncovered parts of the female anatomy in contests.”

you’ve got to go read the article yourself to see what further nonsense they come up with. er… sorry perhaps they are not nonsense to those mullahs ala PAS or PAS strong supporters.

what made me laugh the most in the article is this part:
“in 2000, for example, the khomeinist authorities in tehran announced a ban on women riding bicycles or motorcycles. the rationale? riding bicycles or motorcycles would activate a woman’s thighs and legs, thus arousing “uncontrollable lustful drives” in her. and men watching women on their bikes in the streets could be “led towards dangerous urges.”

oh boy, am i glad i do not live in tehran, because as many of you know, i ride chaly. oh, but shouldn’t i be proud that my thighs and legs when i’m on chaly would arouse in men some ‘dangerous urges’? 🙂
