(sorry. don't know how to do tables or shaded section or just a bar across)

as you can see, the email came from the malaysian aids council (MAC) and what do you know… MAC nominated one of my post on aids for an award!! i was so escatic! overjoyed!! can't believe it for a moment. if any of you are going to say the email might not be genuine, don't worry as i had checked with MAC. phoned them up and personally talked to ms ely.

well, the said post of mine that had been nominated is entittled  'wear a red ribbon today' dated 1 dec. 2003. you can read more about the award at the MAC website here.

frankly speaking i do not know anything at all about this award until i received the email. but of course i do know of the existence of MAC. another thing is i had also forgotten about that particular nominated post of mine!

you'll notice there are 3 categories and i suppose i fall into the last category –'non-traditional media. these can include articles written on the internet (blogs, websites), independent newsletters as well as short performances on HIV/AIDS (street plays, performances, etc)'

i feel very proud and honoured to be nominated for this 'daimler crysler red ribbon media awards 04'. i wonder how MAC found that post of mine. googled? whatever, never for a moment do i expect what i had written in my blog could be useful and fruitful. yes. fruitful is the word. when i started blogging, all i ever want to do is to talk and talk and talk in writing, share whatever i like to share, grumble about the govt. and so on. i never expect whatever i wrote would one day be picked up by some organisation as something useful. at last my yakkity yak on my blog do prove fruitful.

of course i'm honoured to be nominated but i am not banking hope on winning as i know there are many others who are better than me. to be nominated is good enough for me as i'm proud of the recognition given to my writings on AIDS. i thank MAC very much for nominating me. and i appreciate the fact that MAC and diamler-chrysler started this award to quote 'recognize and honor the vital role played by malaysian media practitioners who have contributed significantly towards educating the public about HIV/AIDS' . unquote. these 'media practioners' here of course include bloggers like me, who falls at the last category.

yes, now that i went back to read that nominated post of mine, i realised, it was full of information to educate the public about HIV/AIDS. i remember now i spent a lot of time providing the links of articles… but of course link via online newspaper cannot be accessed anymore, now being over 6 months. however links to other websites can be accessed.

i don't know when the result will be announced (should have asked ms ely when i phone her. silly me. never mind, can email her) but i suppose anytime a week or more before the presentation night i.e. 18 sept. wish me luck!
