shame, shame! RM100mil jet engines missing from the air force

zahidour dear PM promised no cover up in the case of the missing RM50 mil. jet engines from the royal malaysian air force. no cover up? but the theft happened in 2007. the police report was made in 2008 and now it is 2009! come again? no cover up, you said? the issue had already been covered up! it happened in 2007, why wait till a year to made the police report, and why after 2 years only, the public knew about it?

now the defence minister, zahid (pic left, taken from malaysiakini), tells us that it is not only the engines that had gone missing but some equipments too. wow!! what equipmenst? how much were they worth? so more than RM50 mil. had been stolen?

know what? zahid had issued warning to bloggers:

Zahid warned bloggers not to sensationalise the incident, stressing that the government was committed to having a transparent investigation.

“For your information, those involved have been identified and we have taken action internally. They won’t escape from legal action. I don’t want bloggers who will twist facts with various analyses and speculation. I would like to inform that the Prime Minister and I will monitor the investigation. Further action will also be revealed to the public from time to time,” he told reporters.

whoaa! are we bloggers suppose to be intimidated and keep mum on this issue… or don’t tell me soon there will be a gag order on this issue?

of course as bloggers (and also commenters on news portal) we have to analyse and speculate.  what else can we do? there are also lots of analysis and speculation (and even teasing) on facebook too (like here), so why didn’t zahid also gave warning to facebook users?  like it or not, bloggers, news/forum commenters, people in kopi-tiam or nasi kandar stall will be talking about this issue. it is such a big news and a shameful one, people will talk about it.

seems that presently what is the most ‘talked about’ is not any speculation or analysis but a question! the question – why wasn’t the theft reported when it happened in 2007? the then defence minister (you do know who, do you?) kept quiet!! many people had also been saying (like what hadi awang from PAS had spoken up) that in cases like this, if it happenedi n the west, the defence minister would have tendered in his resignation! but in malaysia this won’t happen. instead they will go after the small fishes and the sharks like the defence minister… or the brigadier general… were be let off.

yes, look at the brigadier general and 4o others who had been identified involving in this case – they had been sacked but the brigadier general still retained his pension and other benefits (while the other 40 did not). can you believe that? the small fishes stripped of everything but the big fish, the brigadier general was not stripped of everything? this can only happenned in malaysia. MALAYSIA BOLEH!
