oh shit! 1malaysia is flushing down the toilet now!
drum rolls please…. presenting 1toilet!! applause please!
believe it or not, the 1malaysia concept is not getting sillier and sillier.
The state government will introduce a “1Toilet” policy in a move to liberalise education, where teachers – and even principals – will soon have to share toilets with their students.
State Education, Higher Learning, Human Resource, Science and Technology Committee chairman Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said the policy was mooted in line with the 1Malaysia concept, and teachers and students could have a feeling of “oneness”.
well actually i do agree that there shouldn’t be seperation of toilet for teachers and students. in fact i’m surprise that higher learning institutions still have seperate toilets for students and teachers. by right, everywhere, there shouldn’t be separate toilets for different classes of people.
what i find silly were the reasons our esteemed SEHLHRST committee chairman, ahmad razif gave.
“We want students to have a sense of belonging that we believe would inspire them to excel further in their education.
oh? didn’t know that sharing toilet can make you smarter.
“When students share the toilets with the teacher, they (students) will believe that they are on par with academicians and this automatically invokes a sense of being important to an organisation, which, in this case, is the school,” he said here yesterday.
students are students. teachers are teachers. one teach the other, and the other then learn. how can they be on par?
teachers and students using the same toilet can give the students a sense of being important to their school? employers and employees using the same toilet will made the employees feel proud and have a sense of importance to their companies?
i don’t know with you but i for sure won’t feel that at all. it is when my employer treat me with respect and understanding that made me feel proud of being in his company, giving me a sense of importance being in the company. i’m sure this will be the same with teachers-students relationship too.
