what power does the police have?
yes, what power has the police have over you, say if they stop you on the street and suddenly say you are under arrest? what is your rights then in respond?
interested to know? then do come for the suaram organised ‘police power training’ workshop, where you’ll get to know about police and your rights. i bet you, you won’t regret. you’ll get to learn lots of things… things that might surprised you.
i had attended such a workshop before 3 years ago (same organiser, same speaker) and you can read about it in this post of mine. (that post was made when i was using blogger – all comments were lost!). it was very very interesting indeed and i learned so much. now, suaram is bringing to you the workshop again, so please don’t miss it eh.
btw, have you heard of our very own ‘little red book’? no no, it’s not the book of thoughts from communist leader, mao tzu tung but it is a 31 page booklet (in 4 languages), published by the malaysian bar council, entitled ‘police and your basic rights’. it is a very useful book to carry along with you everywhere you go. if you don’t have one, you can download one from here, and keep it handy! (i believe the launching of this book was published in malaysiakini).
