the lingam tape report made public

whoa! the royal commission’s finding into the lingam tape has been made public. for exclusive news/reports about it, you got to read from malaysiakini or malaysian insider.

The four-volume report will be sold  at RM542.10 and be available next week from the government printers.

While volume one – which is the report itself – has only 191 pages, volume two containing the notes of evidence is 1,187 pages long, while volume three contains all the statutory declarations submitted to the commission (513 pages) and the final volume contains the exhibits (998 pages).

the royal commission of inquiry has recommended that ex PM, mahathir and 5 other persons to be investigated under a slew of laws – sedition act, official secrets act, penal code, prevention of corruption act and the legal profession act.

the 5 are former chief justices ahmad fairuz  and eusoff chin, senior lawyer VK lingam, former minister tengku adnan and business tycoon vincent tan. The inquiry’s report said "there was conceivably an insidious movement by (Lingam) with the covert assistance of his close friends (Tan and Tengku Adnan) to involve themselves actively in the appointment of judges."

"In the process … Mahathir was also entangled," the report added. "Actions of the main characters concerned have the effect of seriously undermining and eroding the independence and integrity of the judiciary as a whole."

well since the recording of the tape happened during mahathir’s time as PM, naturally he was ‘entangled’ in it. hmm.. i wonder what will mahathir say. looking forward to his statement, which i’m sure will consists of something like "there had been attempts to implicate me". oh sorry i mean "these are attempts to implicate me". of course i also can’t wait for the reaction of the other 5. interesting times ahead in bolehland coming up again!
