first day in class… er… zoo… er… parliament
check out all the hoo-haa that happened on the first day of parliament sitting 2008, after the so-called tsunami win from opposition.
———————————-
from malaysian insider – point of order!:
"This is a very bad start, this a terrible start, this is an atrocious start," veteran opposition MP Lim Kit Siang said in Parliament today when politicians across the divide stood up to score points.
kit siang was referring to the ‘no supplementary questions’ order from the speaker.
———————————-
from malaysian insider – swords drawn, dewan rakyat just another battlefield:
Many of the MPs have not come to terms with the political changes ushered in by Election 2008. On the BN side there is anxiety and uncertainty over the sight of 82 MPs sitting across the divide. There is the sense that no quarter must be given, lest this be taken as a sign of weakness by the Opposition and the Malaysian public.
hmm… malaysian insider describe dewan rakyat as a battlefield i see. don’t most of us see it as a zoo (or circus)?
———————————-
from malaysian insider – parliamentarians pout and preen on 1st day:
It really felt like the first day in school. Some parliamentarians in the Dewan Rakyat pouted and preened during Question Time which incidentally was being telecast live for the first time.
ya. i saw part of it on tv3 late last night. indeed it looks like a kindergarten, sound like a kindergarten but (thanks to lingam), it is not a kindergarten.
———————————-
from bernama – only three questions asked during 90-minute question and answer session In dewan rakyat:
The question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat which began its sitting Wednesday was disrupted for almost an hour when several members of parliament, particularly from the opposition, raised questions on the meeting procedures.

bernama – PM requests speaker to allow him to accept supplementary questions:
This is unprecedented. It’s the first time in Malaysia’s history…50 years. How can there be no supplementary questions. This is ridiculous, a mockery of the Parliament. It must be allowed. We must have respect for the Yang Amat Berhormat (Right Honourable) Prime Minister who has come here, otherwise, what is the purpose of coming," Lim said
———————————-
jeff ooi, the blogger MP also blog on this no supplementary questions issues, and of course other issues too.
and finally, another blogger MP, tony pua blog on the insult to karpal singh (which become insult to the handicap) by the katak ibrahim ali. he told karpal that if he wanted to speak up, he should stand up. now we all know karpal is in a wheelchair, right, so how can he stand up? of course we knows the katak knows karpal can’t stand up, yet he said that – very unparliamentary – yet the speaker did not asked him to withdraw his unparliamentary comments. the famous big mouth kinabatangan MP, bung, seemed to support katak ibrahim, when he said to karpal "stand up if you dare. if i am big foot, you are big monkey".
*sigh* name calling again.
hasn’t the bocor MP learned his lesson? wasn’t it him who also insulted the disabled when at one parliament sitting some time ago he made a remark about karpal something something, that’s why karpal is in a wheelchair (i forgot).
Malaysiakini highlighted the name calling with its heading "it’s big foot vs big monkey’.
didn’t i say the dewan rakyat is a zoo? you have big foot and big monkey, see!!
first time MP, the arrogant son-in-law also chipped in to made a childish remark when he mentioned opposition leader wan azizah’s speech was over the 40 words limit.
really. an oxford boy notice such petty thing? how smart.
oh of course you shouldn’t miss too lim kit siang’s post. more so for the comments.
from reading here and there, what i get is that the speaker is very biased. so what else is new with BN!!
