saw lim guan eng at ‘ho chiak’
i went to the mount miriam hospital’s ‘ho chiak’ charity food and fun fair yesterday morning and ran into our CM, lim guan eng, when he came to patronise some of the food stalls. he was there to officiate the event.
when he stopped at the ‘siew mai’ stall to buy something, i quickly took the opportunity to take the above photo. many people were seen clicking away taking photo of him too. lots of people went up to shake his hands when he was walking in between the stalls. he stopped at a few stalls to buy the food. at one stall he stop by to buy a drink and there and then drank it and nodded his head that it was good. at one stage, i see some people suddenly asked him to pose for a photo with him and he obliged!
there were so many stalls at the food fair. the ad stated that there were 112 stall! indeed! i spy so many stalls that i had a headache walking from stalls to stalls… but methink i did missed out a few stalls too. yep there were so many stalls that i have a difficult position what to choose to buy! haha! well in the end i ended up buying the lasagna and the tandori chicken set, the latter of which was at RM10… but it was worth it as it was quite nice and tasty. also bought a muffin, some drinks and ice cream!
i went with my sister and mother and we had RM60 coupons to spend – all donated by well-wisher. (wow! free makan for us.) i understand that this is the 2nd food fair mount miriam organised. i was at the 1st food fair too. it seemed that mount miriam wanted to buy some machines that cost very very high, so they have to raise funds through many projects/events on-going. mount miriam hospital, which is run by a group of catholic nuns, is a hospital for cancer patients. they are doing a good cause with the hospital so next time if you are approach by anyone with fund-raising for mount miriam, do have a heart and donate ok!
note: ‘ho chiak’ is in hokkien, which means good (or tasty) to eat. there is a blog with this name, which is not frequently updated but of course the writer is from penang, where else. only penang’s food are ‘ho chiak’. 🙂
oh, there is also a tv show in mandarin by the name of ‘ho chiak’ on 8TV on sunday evening.
