re-introducing the tramways in penang: a proposal for action

ric francis had written a book on trams and trolleys in penang (see picture) and he had been invited by penang heritage trust before to give a talk. if i’m not mistaken, not only penang heritage trust but some other organisations. yes he had been in penang many times.

well i know ric francis personally since 3 or 4 years ago from the penang talk forum. we met before once (think that was more than a year ago) at the hotel where he was staying for some drinks and chit chat. nice and friendly man. each time he came to penang, he gave me a call. i’m surprised he still has my phone number, as we actually do not keep in touch. see, although he is a busy man and well quite well known, being a speaker and writer, he is still so humble and friendly as to remember me all these years and call me up whenever he is in penang.

well, yes, last saturday i was pleasantly surprise when he called me and told me he is in penang now. he remember i told him i did not managed to get a hold of his book yet… and i think he said he has one for me (at coffee shop noisy place when he called so can’t really catch what he said). wow! i should go for the talk to get one copy personally autographed by him.

note: am posting this in a hurry before i dashed off for work so no time to made comments. i’m sure there will be some comments (spoken and unspoken – unspoken means lurkers only) regarding the proposal of starting trams in penang, so do let it out.

note2: just found out there was a write-up of reviving the tramways with a picture of ric francis in star metro. funny i saw it in the hardcopy of today, search for it online, can’t find it… but then suddenly found int online dated 8 august, but 8 august i don’t see it in hardcopy.
