altantuya’s trial: at last najib’s name surfaced
UPDATED: sunday, 1/07/07, 2:16 AM
najib told press to blackout news (expected lah!)
najib will not issue statement on altantuya murder case – aide (keeping his elegant silence? all the more making the prosecution dare not call him as a witness, i guess. *sigh*)
ORIGINAL POST
aha! i was waiting and wondering when would HIS name appeared… will it ever appeared… and there it was – yesterday’s trial, HIS name was mentioned at last.
malaysiakini’s headline said it all – najib seen with altantuya.
(read from mental jog extra if you are not a malaysiakini subsriber)
it was when amy, the cousin of altantuya, was giving his testimony, najib’s name at last surfaced. she mentioned that altantuya had been photographed having a meal with "a malaysian official named najib razak".
Burmaa Oyunchimeg (picture), also known as Amy, told the Shah Alam High Court that Altantuya had shown her the photo when she returned from a trip to France.
It is believed that the government official in the photograph is Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who has close ties with political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda.
The latter has been charged with abetting the murder of Altantuya, 28.
Najib has previously denied that he had personally met the murdered woman and that he heard of her only from newspaper reports after Altantuya was murdered.
This morning, Burmaa, 26, had mentioned the photograph when cross examined by deputy public prosecutor Manoj Kurup.
However, she was cut short by the prosecution when she said the photograph showed Altantuya having a meal with Razak and a “government official.” She was then quizzed on other matters.
why was she cut short? shouldn’t she be questioned further instead as the name of a very important person was mentioned.
shouldn’t the prosecutor questioned baginda razak about the photo, whether it was true altantuya was having a meal with him and najib?
as najib had previously denied he had met altantuya, now with amy mentioning that altantuya was seen photographed with him, what will najib said? will najib denied again and call amy a liar?
anyway, i wonder does altantuya’s family still have the mentioned photograph? if no, there will be no proof, thus people might believe najib if he call amy a liar!
you know, actually days ago, that is on 21 june (4th day of the trial) to be exact, a website ‘klpos‘ had already mentioned about a photograph/s… but not of altantuya having a meal with najib. it mentioned about najib AND najib’s wife too celebrating altantuya’s birthday in a hotel.
loosely translated: it is said that our datuk K in NST had also celebrated the birthday of altantuya. this occured in a hotel. not only datuk but datuk seri N and datin seri R, apart from razak baginda himself. it is rumoured there are photographs too of the celebration.
what is not so good is that the photograph is said to be kept by altantuya’s family, and the photograph will be shown to the court to proof datuk seri N and his wife do know altantuya."
intereseting eh? the ‘N’ there of of course is ‘najib’ and ‘R’ is his wife, ‘rosmah’. it was also stated in klpos, that altantuya and rosmah had gone shopping together before.
meanwhile, 2 days ago, asia sentinel had mentioned najib as a missing witness.
One major figure who appears to be integrally involved with all of the case’s participants has never been questioned or asked to testify as a witness in the case: Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
The son of the country’s second prime minister, Najib is a friend of Abdul Razak Baginda’s. The two policemen charged with carrying out the killing are part of an elite force close to Najib’s office. A third suspect, who may be a Najib family bodyguard, has been left out of the case, while the slain woman’s father has repeatedly said his daughter was privy to details of official corruption .

on another note, remember on the 1st day of the trial, the ‘t-shirt gang’ were there and i blog about it complete with pictures? (that was the only one time i blog on the trial, now the 2nd time). then on the 2nd day of the trial, razak baginda’s staff had unfurled a banner that read ‘razak baginda staff. and we are with you. proud of it’.
well, altantuya’s family hit back when 3 days ago, they too came out with banners too. (pictures taken from present point power blog).
The family and friends of murdered Mongolian national Altantunya Shaariibuu gathered outside the Shah Alam High Court this morning with posters calling for justice.
The four also chanted ‘Altantunya’ and ‘Mongolia’.
The deceased’s father Shaariibuu Setev (right) held a poster which read ‘Malaysia! Baginda’s team is proud of my daughter’s murder’.
Altantunya’s cousin Uuriintuya Gal Ochir displayed a poster which read ‘Hope justice will be done by the Malaysian court’.
Two other posters held up by the deceased’s friend Burmaa Oyunchime and her cousin Namiraa Gerelmaa denounced Abdul Razak Baginda, among others, saying ‘he has no place on earth’ and that ‘he is not a human being’.
The four stood outside the building for several minutes before dispersing. Today is the ninth day of the high-profile murder trial.

whoa! that’s interesting. t-shirt supporting team. banners supporting team. what next eh? well, razak baginda’s family started it… why then should baginda get upset when the mongolians displayed those banners? well, when his family and friends wore those t-shirts/displayed the banners, shariibuu, altantuya’s father was upset, thus he retaliated by displaying banners too. ‘one turn deserve another’, you know.
actually when baginda’s family wore those t-shirts on the 1st day, i was kind of asking myself, "proud of what?". yes, proud of being baginda’s wife, baginda’s sister, baginda’s nephew and so on… does that also mean proud of what he had done? that was why shariibuu view was that baginda’s team was proud of his daughter’s murder. ok, ok, i know, but that meant shariibuu (and seems that many of us too) already judged baginda to be guilty of altantuya’s murder. what if he is not guilty? does the ‘proud of’ will translate into as being proud of him NOT guilty but taking the rap for someone? oops. i am speculating. gotta run.
