they want more

"please sir, can i have some…. more?" so asked little oliver twist with a bowl in his small hands. the big fat man growled and shouted and pandemonium broke out as he chased oliver around.

well that was what the ‘magnificient 7’ (as jeff ooi put it) asked for too – more.  they support maybank’s pro-bumi policy in requiring legal firms to have 50 per cent bumiputera interest for them to become its panel of solicitors.

then a number of senators also spoke up and supported this pro-bumi policy.  one of them was asking what about hong leong bank and public bank? see, they want more!

will we see they being ‘chased’ off by their greediness? no way! they are not little olivers who can be bullied. they are bumi-umnoputera!!

"…described the policy as positive to narrow the gap between the Bumiputeras and non-Bumiputeras…"

"…the 50 per cent requirement was appropriate to enhance Bumiputera interests in legal firms involved in the banking sector…"

"…it was difficult for Bumiputera legal firms to get contracts or deal with other banks.."""

50 years of merdeka and 35 years of NEP, and it is still not enough. they must have more. handouts… special priveleges… because they are bumiputera… worst still, because it is their ketuanan melayu.

excuse me, this is not something new anyway. yeah, happens almost everywhere already (like the bumi quota for housing) and others companies (like the email that is going around mentioning petronas) also had been practising this pro-bumi policy.

oh, nothing wrong with the pro-bumi policy because they are the sons of the soil and they deserve it?

sure… but when will it end? will it ever end? ahh… will they (’em umnoputera) want it to end?

well.. the pro-bumi policy goes on… the discrimination goes on… life goes on.

welcome to malaysia.
