eye-o!! expensive eye!
‘the eye’ (picture as above) cost RM30 million! and it was build in a hurry (comprimising on safety?) just so to get it ready for the launching (visit malaysia year 2007) on 6 jan.
what is the eye? it is a 60 metre ferris wheel with 42 air-con gondola which can accomodate 8 people. it is situated at taman tasik titiwangsa, and the ride will allow you to get a breath-taking view of (so they claimed) the sights of KL e.g. of places like the KL tower, the twin towers, genting highlands and so on.
why of all things do we need to build a ferris wheel to attract tourists? come to think of it, sounds silly, right? if one wants to have a good aerial view of the city, there are other means, like going up to the petronas tower or genting highlands (though one won’t be so high but at least can see an aerial view is good enough). then there’s this thing of hiring a helicopter if one really wants to see an aerial view of the city.
another point is there is this question of whether the eye will stay on or be dispose off after 2007. disposed off RM30 million? goodness! read jeff’s blog for more context.
