interesting facts on famous brands

how many of you have heard of tim berners lee? not many i’m sure…. yet you should. why? the fact that you are right here now reading this is due to tim berners lee. he is the inventor of the world wide web – the internet! (no, forget the gore guy).

Very few Internet users have heard of him. He was a young British computer scientist working in a physics laboratory somewhere in Geneva in 1990 when he found a simple, inexpensive, fast yet unrestricted way “to move” information around. He did not benefit from his invention for he did not believe the Web was property.

too bad. he should have patented his invention and he would have made billions and billions. look at that happened to bill gates… google…. yahoo.

who is the inventor of email? steve dorner… and like tim berner, he did not receive any shares or royalties from his invention.

do you know that doughnut originally do not have a hole in the centre? then how come it does now? well, it seemed that a sea
captain from maine named gregory loved his doughnuts so much that even in rough seas he had them as company. What he did was he spiked his doughnut on the steering wheel when the sea was choppy.

you do use flouride toothpaste, right? so how would you like to know how did flouride toothpaste came about? if your kids love playing with barbie doo, perhaps you would be interested to find out who (and how) invented the barbie doll? many people know about the popular board game, monopoly, but do you know how it came to be? why are tv serials call ‘soap operas’?

there’s an interesting titbit on how william wrigley’s chewing gum become popular and some facts about the popular pharmaceutical company, johnson and johnson and johnson. oops. 3 johnson? yes, that’s right, it used to be 3 but 1 was dropped off.
