beamfest gathering

last night for the first time i attended the my pdacafe (MPC) beamfest gathering!

what is beamfest? it is a gathering of tech gadgets enthusiastics. why is it call beamfest? not so sure but perhaps because the members are suppose to beam whatever (files, games, pictures) from one PDA to another.

i had been frequenting MPC forum for a long time and the first time i heard of beamfest, i did thought of attending but i was thinkng to myself i don’t have a PDA (or any other tech gadget) no point going. the veteran members of course said it is not necessary for you to own a gadget to attend but as long as you are interested in gadgets but not owning one (yet), you can attend.

actually although i said last night was my first time, i did attended one before… but i stay for only 10 mins, that’s why i did not count it as being there.

ok the beamfest last night was held at coffee bean, guney tower. 22 persons turned up – more than we expected! we started off with an introduction. then later on two members try 3G video conference phone call (or whatever it is call) as demo for all to see. several members were so interested to look see how 3G video call work. since i had seen my ex-boss using it before (with her niece in singapore), i was not really interested.

oh yeah, sssmooth (one of MPC owners) bought along some t-shirts for sale. naturally i bought one… and it came with free car stickers. oh! i forgot to take the t-shirt home when i left so can’t take a picture of it to show (the picture of the t-shit was shown somewhere in MPC forum).

thanks to doc for showing me how to blog directly by sending pictures directly to flickr…. though i did not quite catch how to do it as he was explaining in a hurry as the others wanted to have a group photo taken at that time. i guess if i do stay back, can ask him to show me again, but never mind since now i don’t have a PDA phone yet, it’s ok. i will run to him for help when i can afford a PDA phone. 🙂

i had to leave early to catch the bus. from the pictures i saw at the MPC forum beamfest thread, i see that i missed out lots of fun… especially the mandatory lining up of your gadgets!… although of course my dell axim x51v might pale in comparision to many of the members more sophisicated gadgets like the dopod 838. then of course this will mean i can have a close hand look at other gadgets and get to play with them too. missed those! 🙁

here are some pictures i took. they look terrible because of me… the amateur photographer (not because of the digicam!). should have attended MPC fotokrazies gathering too to pick up some photography tips. since it was night time, all pictures turned out very dark, thus i had to edit them to brighthen them, and in doing so, they look even more terrible. haha. no commenting on my photography no-skill ya hear, esp wits0!
