christmas mood in office
it’s christmas mood in our office! we had the decoration up and christmas songs playing all day! many of our staffs will be taking leaves from next week onwards.
the christmas crib and other decoration in our office was set up on last monday (12 dec) when i was on leave! argh!! missed the fun of decorating and setting it up.
i have taken some pictures of the decoration we had in our office. we put up a crib plus the advent candles (which is surrounded by leaves, thus making it an advent wreath). no christmas tree, as that is not necessary, though it is good to have one. like in my house, since 3 years ago, i had decided to do away with christmas tree but put up a crib instead as christmas is all about jesus’ birth not a tree. however this year, i decided to buy a small table christmas tree for the house. yes no doubt, as lynnee pointed out, the christmas tree is so commercialised now, not necessary to have it but i feel as long as i do have the crib too, can include the tree. after all, we don’t have to be too holy-moley or self righteous to proclaim loudly “christmas is not about christmas tree or about santa. christmas is about the birth of jesus” and decided not to have anything to do with christmas tree, or tell children not to believe in santa. well, even if a christian home does not have the crib but only the tree, that’s ok of course… well both my brothers’ houses does not have the crib but only the tree! cribs are more for churches, hotels or organisations. houses usually have trees.
ok ok back to what i originally want to blog about – the decoration in our office. here is the picture that shows the whole thing. the crib is beautifully arranged, with grasses all round it! those yellow vertical streaks you see are lights. on the right and left, with black background is the window of a room, where we place christmas cards sent to our office. next to the crib table, is the advent candles table. as you can see there are 2 cardboard christmas trees in the middle and on them are written the initials of the names of our departments – mine is PDPI (penang diocesan pastoral institute).
next two pictures show close up of the crib – or sometimes refer as ‘the nativity scene’, and close up of the advent candles. there are also lights surrounding the advent candles table. every morning when we reach the office, we will turn on the lights and light the candles.
