weekend in KL part 3 (final) – bloggers meet and shopping!
ah! sunday, 11 dec – the day to meet lynnee (and some other bloggers). sharon and i left for KLCC at around 10.30am. the first thing we did was to search for a locker to keep my luggage. i can’t possibly walk around shopping lugging my luggage around, would i. thank god there is a locker room in KLCC – had to pay two 50 cents for its use. i do travel light but after the seminar, i got lots of materials (including books) to carry around, so it was kind of a little heavy.
well, after keeping my luggage, sharon and i went to have some light breakfast of spritzels. then since it was not yet 12.30, our appointed time to meet lynnee, we went round shopping for my knapsack handbag or a backpack. remember the one that i had last time? i blog on the contents, showing the bag too. i had changed to another bag when the strap of this bag came off a month ago… and the bag that i changed to lasted me only for 7 days, when it become ‘koyak’ here and there! it was a backpack too, with soft, like vinyly material… naturally it can’t stand the weight when i have so many rubbish dump in my handbag!
the reason i like to use backpack daily to office is because since i go around with chaly, it’s easier to hang a bag behind my back when i’m on chaly. also, in our office, it’s casual wear for us all the way, so a casual bag is good enough. everyday i wear pants or jeans with t-shirt to office. why, some day i even wear 3/4 pants or broad loose shorts!

ok, so sharon and i walked around shopping for backpack. it’s difficult to find classy branded backpacks, as most bags are of the ordinary hand, sling or shoulder types. when there are some available, they are too damn expensive… over RM200! like this, me poor lady cannot afford lah. you know, my budget was only RM50! so i guess it’s better to look out at the sports section – they might have cheaper backpack.
anyway, at the elle shop, we did spot 2 different type of backpacks that are quite nice. one is a bit classy type, looks very nice, cost over RM100 but after discount cost about RM80. the other one, though not so classy but it is cute (and has cute colours too) cost around RM60 after discount. well as i knew i would have time to shop around again after our lunch, so i did not decide on buying either these 2 yet.
when it was 12.30pm, sharon and i headed for the dome cafe. we were the first to arrived. shortly after 5 mins of so, what a surprise, edrei, the wordpress (WP) guru walked in and approached me! at first i thought he was sashi. i didn’t expect edrei as i thought he’s still in oz land. it was nice seeing him indeed as i had been requesting his help to install my penang4u blog under wordpress, and eventually i might move this blog to WP too. so of course when he was right in front of me, i lost no time in bombarding him with WP questions.
lynnee later on arrived, followed by liz of messy christian. edrei came armed with the rubik’s cube and impressed us with his skill in solving the puzzle in just over a minute. whoa! and i can’t even solve one side within 5 mins! (during the time many many years back when rubik’s cube was in vogue).
the first picture here show the early comers (minus sharon since she was the photographer) and second picture shows the WP expert, edrei and now just discovered rubik”s cube expert, in action.
the 5 of us chit chat and eat our food for quite a while before jack showed up. ah! my food – the dome speciality pie, recommended by sharon. first time i came across such of food – the pie was draped over a bowl of soup. i choose beef pie, therefore the soup was beef soup – very yummy. quite worth the amount of RM19.50. however, i regret ordering the expresso coffee, which came in an eenie mini tiny cup that with only 2 huge sips – RM6.00 will be gulped down! all together i had to pay RM29.00 for the food and drinks plus tax.
jack later showed up, followed by irene. therefore all together there were 7 of us bloggers. we enjoyed out chit chat which range from wordpress and rubik’s cube (of course), shopping for bags to cats and dogs!
at about 4.00pm, we decided to call it quit. irene left while the rest were willing to follow me around to shop for my bag. even the 2 guys, edrei and jack sportingly joined in our shopping tour for the bag, though for jack, while most of the time we were in a bag shop, he detour to some other shops nearby. after walking around a few shops, liz, edrei and jack escaped to a book-shop, while sharon, lynnee and i continue our hunt for my elusive backpack. it’s quite difficult to find one to my exact liking. the few others i found have pros and cons here and there. finally, lynnee spotted an adidas sports shop and said why not give it a try… and we saw a backpack there… and the good thing about it was that it was within my budget – at only RM45.90. although i like the light blue and light pink coloured ones but i opted for the navy blue instead as those light colours cannot stand dirt. haha. knowing me using the bag daily, i know sooner or later the bag will get dirty and me lazy to wash it too!
before i decided to buy this adidas bag, i was still doubtful if i want to get the ellebackpack. i like the elle backpack but my complain was the strap was not strong enough. after mulling over for a while, i decided since i do want a heavy-duty bag that can withstand the weight of all my rubbish ‘barang-barang’ and the wear and tear of daily use, this adidas bag do look very sturdy indeed, i decided to buy it. i don’t quite like the broad shoulder strap though… but the good thing is that the shoulder strap is with a layer of cushion. here you see a picture of the bag, both front and side view.
well after getting my bag, it was also about time for me to catch the 6.30pm bus back to penang, so sharon and i took the LRT to pasar seni and walked to puduraya. the bus only came at 7.00pm!! luckily the journey was quite fast and i reached penang around 11.00pm.
i had wanted to post a group picture but since lynnee had already posted one up, and the picture is about the same, might as well not. do go to lynnee’s blog to read about the meet up.
i thank sharon first of all for being with methe whole day in KLCC and accompanying me to puduraya bus station… and stay right till 6.30pm. oh, and also thanks for helping me to carry my luggage all the time! thanks goes to all bloggers who turned up, especially lynnee. i hope to meet more bloggers at my next KL trip (though i had met most of them… but only briefly, at the PPS 2nd anniversary bash).
