3 websites of my own

at our last penang bloggers meet, jeremy had kindly gave away free web hosting for 6 months to the first 10 persons who arrived first. i was one of those who won it. it seems that none of the others accepted the free offer except yvy/mysteiz. most of them already have a web host, thus did not accept it. well, since i was thinking of starting more than 1 websites, jeremy suggested that i ask permission from the other winners who did not want the web hosting to give their free web hosting to me. thus i asked lilian of 5xmom and n305er, and the agree to give the hosting to me. (thanks to you two!).

actually i wanted to start only two websites – one for the church, and one to blog on penang like my yahoo groups penang4u style. however instead of choosing the domain name penang4u, i made a mistake to choose my own name. thus i had to buy a 3rd one for the domain penang4u.

i bought the first 2 domains from yahoo small business at offer price of US$1.99 per year:
http://www.lucialai.org – personal for 1 year
http://www.cityparishpg.net – the church i goes to for 2 years.

the 3rd one, http://www.penang4u.com i bought it from aplus at US$7.99 per year.

all these 3 hosted by jeremy’s server at ejrs.

oh yeah of the 3 web-hosting, i will get 2 free permenantly! (but with conditions lah), whereas 1 web host, it will be free for 6 months only…. so any recomendations for a cheap (but reliable) web host?

now for penang4u, i’m thinking of starting it as a blog using wordpress. i realise that my penang4u at yahoo groups had been dead, thus i plan to revive it… but this time via a blog. lots of planning ahead to do first. first to use wordpress, i don’t know how so i am relying on edrei‘s help. then to get it going, i might need help too… i mean like contributors to the site/blog… esp. those from penang. i’ll announce what i want to have in the blog and what help i need later.

now, as for the other 2 websites, i have no idea at all how to get started as i’m so blur blur and clueless on this matter. jeremy said i could use ‘contents management system'(CMS) where the design/layout will be there and i just have to type in contents/upload photos. yes i know about that. my office website, the penang diocese, i was the one who er… maintained it (that’s not the right word… but can’t seems to find the right word)… and it comes with CMS. of course… if not, i wouldn’t know how to maintain it!

so i guess for these other 2 websites it’s better for me to use CMS too… but again an idiot me don’t know how to use it! can you believe that? jeremy did tell me where to go to to get the CMS but after i went there and search for it, i just don’t know what to do. so stupid eh (or lazy to learn?). so are there any kind souls out there who can help me with setting up of websites… whether using CMS (preferably for a ‘dolt like me) or not using CMS. i know some of you might say use some programs that assist in website set up like front-page. yes i have front-page but the thing is as i said i’m non techie and i just find it hard to learn.

ok seeing that esp. during this time of the year, i’m so busy with office work and other voluntary works, it might take some time for me to get the 3 websites going. never mind, no hurry anyway. maybe only the penang4u is to be given priority.

ok guys, when i do start penang4u, i hope you all would give me your support, ya.
