great! SMS for your astronaut!

so many people had blog on this so i just gotta blog on it too. of course i’m a little late. well i got to know of it only yesterday morning when i see the paper, then when got time to blog during office hours, so have to blog only when i’m at home… and at this usual time of blogging of mine (after midnight).

what am i talking about? ah! the cast your votes via sms frenzy! believe it or not, our gomen had decided that, we, the beloved rakyat should have a voice in choosing our first astronaut.

huh? hello? is this destination moon by 2020 a serious matter or not? sending a man/woman to the moon is not something frivalous such as those silly reality tv shows mentor, akademi fantasia, malaysian idol. how do we get to know who’s the best candidate to become a neil armstrong wannabe? we are going to fall into the same trap as malaysian idol – the winning candidate will be chosen based on popularity and not skill!

*sigh* what’s with this SMS vote frenzy? don’t they know the SMS vote don’t represent the majority decision? don’t they know SMS vote is all in the name of…. making money??? oh and something else… wasn’t there a fatwa (from PAS) that SMS voting is haram? well, they meant SMS contest but to vote thus, picks the winner, hence it is in a way consider contest too (or gambling!).

*sigh* and do you know that our country who wants to determine the correct person to become the first astronaut via SMS voting, plan to launch five third-generation satellites?

these five satellites will be dubbed as ‘razak satellite’ , so said jamaluddin jarjis, minister of science, technology and innovation. why don’t they ask for SMS vote to determine the name of the satellites? or maybe they can name them as the ‘SMS satellite’. hey don’t laugh… there is a SMS satellite… sychronous meteroligical satellite!
