recommended merdeka blogs… & translation of my BM posts

the merdeka blogger project had received tremendous support. there were many bloggers who posted their blogs there.

i would like to recommend 3 posts which i find interesting.

1. from mavericksysm, a very detailed analysis of our bolehland fascination with breaking records e.g. the tallest, the biggest, etc, complete with pictures.

2. from yvonne foong, the spunky 19 years old whose interview appeared in the star paper dated 31 aug. (this post of hers was not plugged at merdeka blogger project site i think).

3. by serge, where he or she wrote on our first PM, tunku abdul rahman. i felt that many people had forgotten the tunku and i’m glad to see a post of his biography here.

oh all the above 3 are in english. if you have time, drop in the merdeka blogger project to read all the others merdeka posts.

my merdeka post plugged at the merdeka blogger project was the one in BM with heading, ‘makan memegang payung pada hari merdeka‘. er… actually something wrong with the heading er… should be ‘makan SAMBIL memegang……..’, right? anyway to those who don’t understand BM, the heading means ‘holding an umbrella while eating during merdeka day.’

to briefly translate the gist of it (with the heading, not the earlier part, where i was talking about another topic), i was talking about the fun time we had at the merdeka dinner at the esplanade when it rained. although it rained, the few of us remaining (only 3 of us at the table) still remained rooted to our table, and we ate the dishes, with one hand holding our spoon/fork and the other an umbrella! we also had some fun time ‘exhchanging food’ with the table next to us, with 4 malays men occupying it.

earlier part i was talking about how as a child i love to watch the merdeka parades, and was especially attracted to the bands with its colourful costumes and its different musical instruments, and also attracted to the police, army and fire dept. contigents because i was fascinated by their style and actions. however as i grow older, my interest in parades began to wane. i prefer to watch it on tv but the problem was that sleep was more important to me than watching it…. i woke up late… holiday so take the chance to wake up late… and by the time i woke up, the parade had finished or was about to finish.

well, that’s a brief summary of my merdeka post (ah pek, you got it now?).

the other BM post, ‘penyanyi-penyanyi yang saya minati‘ translated means ‘the singers i am interested in’, which tells of the 2 malay singers that i like, the late sudirman haji arshad and the late p. ramlee.
