haze – annual affair?
the haze decided to pay a visit to penang yesterday afternoon… but thank god towards the evening, it die down a little, but don’t know what to expect today. it might come and be worst than yesterday. better be prepared, penangites! buy your mask now! don’t wait until the haze hit penang with unhealthy API reading, only then you decide to get the mask, because by then the price of the mask will be jacked up!
what? have to buy a mask? how can lah when i am broke. perhaps i can use my panty… er… i mean hanky as mask instead. well, i hope we penangites don’t really have to make use of the mask!
the latest hot topic regarding the haze is about malaysian owned companies being culprits of the burning activities in sumatera that cause the haze. well, that’s not surprising as most of us already knew that, though the minister of plantation industries and commodities datuk peter chin denied it.
one thing that irritate me is that some people were saying, do not put all the blame on indonesia since malaysian companies were involved. but hey, where does the burning happens? in indonesia, not malaysia. and this was not the first time. and what has indonesia do to stop the burning? nothing at all! thus, most, if not all, of the blame rest squarely on the indonesian government. rajan had blog on this matter earlier.
it looks like our gomen too does not blame indonesia looking at their lack of action towards the indo gomen. but strangely, oh learning that malaysian companies might be involved, our dear PM, pak lah had jumped up to vow (stong word!) that he will punish the offender if they were found to be the one who started the burning. what about ‘punishing’ their ‘brother’, indonesia? ok sure, punish the ones who started the fire… but what about the one who allows them to start the fire in the first place? as the forest burning had been happening year in and year out, we would have thought the indonesian gomen would know what to do to prevent the burning. well, according to an activist in indonesia, it is because of corruption that prevents the authorities from carrying out their duties to halt the burning. why am i not surprise.
so does this means we are going to suffer from haze every year?
