peeping tom on the prowl…
…if the cabinet says ‘aye’ to what the melaka 4B youth movement had started – the setting up of a morality snoop squad – to spy on couples in ‘close proximity’ and report them to the authorities.
the meeting to discuss this is suppose to be today. wonder what is the outcome.
“stop the snooping” says sun2surf, p. gunasegaram.
“So many hackles have been raised by the issue that the Cabinet and the Umno Supreme Council will me meeting over the issue. What puzzles me is the strong support that Malacca Chief Minister and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam. Ali has given to this dubious venture, an abnormal brainchild of the 4-B Youth Movement he heads.
A Chief Minister and Umno vice-president supporting it or not, it does look like a vigilante movement which has the dangerous potential of already taking the law into its own hands has been made. The government must be firm in stopping their actions immediately so as not to encourage others to take the law into their own hands.”
indeed it is taking the law into their own hands. the bar council president, khutubul zaman bukhari said the snoop squads are not legally authorised to spy on people, and caution the group to stop their actions unless they have the legal authority to do so.
i think we had talked about this already so many times that you might get fed-up – this thing about morality should be left to the individual or the individual’s family, not to some ‘outsider busybody’, eager to see some ‘action’.
