the meet. the meet?

yesterday wanted to blog on this around midnight but suddenly… poof!!… the electricity went off in our house. i checked and realised that no, it was not because that my electricity bill had not been paid as all the other apartments in my area were without electricity too. well, i was still hoping the electricity would come on after a while, so there i was sitting in the dark (not really… had a candle glowing to accompany me), waiting and waiting. well with nothing to do in the dark, i ‘played’ with my casio digicam EX-Z3. checked out the features, do some set-up, test macro shots, see the slideshow, etc, etc… until poof! battery decided it had enough of me and it died on me. so what to do? sit around staring at the glowing candle. after 10 mins. admiring the fascination of a little wax stick that can give out such illuminating light (unlike me, a small little person who gives out darkness instead. haha), i decided to end my affair with the candle and seek another love – my bed! i was sure the electricity won’t came back so soon and since it was already 1.00am, call it a night.

so you see why no post yesterday. blame it on ‘tenaga malaysia’.

ok. now back to topic. er… i mean get on to topic.

how was the meet yesterday? believe it or not, only 1 person turned up, that’s right, you heard me right. 1 as in O-N-E – one, as in ‘satu’ as in numero uno. that is jasdev of the blog jasdevism. i had expected maybe 4 to 5 to turn up but 1 turned up instead… oh well *shrug* look on the bright side, at least i’m not alone. btw, if these are about to gush out from you, please don’t! – “sorry to hear about that”, “you must be disappointed”, “too bad” (or a silent haha). i was not disappointed at all.

when i reached the food court at 10 to 7, i did see 3 guys in a group, staring at me when i walked by. then later on, i thought i saw andy. someone who looks like andy. well after returning home, i learned from andy that he had a last minute hitch, therefore can’t make it. maybe there were people there for the meet but they couldn’t recognise me, though i had given a detailed description of myself and my dressing. cheh! should have listen to viewtru to wear a red carnation.

anyway, with no one in sight by 7.15pm, i decided my stomach is more important anyway, so i started ordering some food. well, i was eating halfway, when jasdev approached me. he recognised me from the star paper i had! well, we had a nice interesting chat. found him to be friendly and a good talker. we talked about of course blogs, stuffs on the internet and oh gadgets like digicam, PDA! oh, he came all the way from seberang prai (the mainland). thank you jasdev. appreciate you taking the time to come. you can read about jasdev take on the bloggers meet here.

i wouldn’t label this meet as a failure because as i said my expectation of the meet is not high. i realised it was such a short notice (7 days) that i planned for the meet (because i want it to be specifically on 9 june). it was on a spur of the moment decision, and being a short time, i myself decided on the place and time (no time for feedback from others on where and what time they want the meet to be held). i realised of course we can have the meet-up on any other day but i just thought it would be nice anyway to meet on 9 june, the international webloggers’ day. so why not gave it a shot and see. oh, another thing i do not know of many penang bloggers. luckily peter tan helped me with locating a few, though most of them said they cannot attend or have a “see first” or “if free, i’ll come” attitude.

well, there’s always a next time – this time calling for a meet at a day/time/place appropriate with most people. i think the very first step right now is to locate as many penang bloggers as we can find, then write to them and asked if they are keen to have a get-together and what’s their appropriate day/time/place. of course i need help all around like locating penang bloggers and help in the planning/organising.

btw, for this meet on 9 june, i received a response from kew l. ang of sweet and sour who said he would be please to attend but can’t make it due to business trip, but he had a good news for us penang bloggers. he’s thining of starting a penang bloggers portal, something like petaling project street (PPS), using syndication. i think it is a good idea and i’m sure all penang bloggers would welcome it. well… next bloggers meet then, we’ll discuss about it!
