my hatyai trip

a panaromic view of hatyai town taken from 14th floor of hotel diamond plaza.

this will only be a very brief report of my hatyai trip. knowing me to be chatterbox and long winded, my trip story would be very long, therefore do not wish to put it up here. also, for the pictures, i will only have 2 pictures up, and to see the rest of the pics, i’ll direct you to my online photo album. don’t want to have many pics here as it slows down loading of the page.

the plusliner bus left penang at 8.45pm. only 4 passengers! including me and my friend lorraine. stop at the rest area just before the thai border. don’t remember what it is call… paloh perhaps? a good clean eating place where there is a money changer too where we change our ringgit for thai bahts here. also book our hotel here – picking diamond plaza at 90 bahts per room.

reach hatyai about 12.30pm. stop at its the plusliner/nice office which is located at novotel hotel. diamond plaza hotel, where we were going to stay was just round the corner so walked there and checked in. nice comfortable room. we were on the 14th floor which commanded a lovely view of hatyai city. the pic above was taken from the hotel room.

had lunch at one of the restaurants near our hotel then shop around. went to the market to buy cashew nuts. lorraine bought 5 packets (1 pkt. per kilo) of cashew nuts! i bought 3 and one spicy cuttlefish. returned to hotel to rest and later off again to shop. i managed to buy a pants, bargained down to 300 bahts from the opening price of 490 bahts! also bought a gold-plated ear-ring at 390 baht.

we had our dinner at the restaurant of ‘asian hotel’ which was just opposite diamond plaza hotel. there were 4 ladies taking turns to sing there accompanied by a pianist. surprisngly most of them sang mandarin songs.

after dinner, we took at tut-tut to go round hatyai city and the outskirts for only 150 bahts per trip of more than 1/2 hour. enjoy the trip as get to see so much of hatyai.

originally we planned to go back via the 3.00pm bus and had already bought our ticket but we were thinking since we had finished our shopping, we might as well catch the 10.00am bus home. luckily we were allowed to change our tickets. so we left hatyai at 10.00am and i reach home about 3.00pm.
