‘keep irene free’ campaign

A signature campaign was launched today in support of labour rights activist and Tenaganita director Irene Fernandez who was slapped with a 12-month jail sentence for publishing ‘false news’ last month.
More than 90 local non-government organisations have collaborated to launch the ‘Keep Irene Free: Defend the Defenders’ campaign and they hope to get one million people to ink their protest.

when irene was first found guilty, i had blogged about it here.
it is said that more than 90 NGOs had colloborated to launch this campaign and their signatures would be forwarded to the PM. i really wonder what action will our new PM take. will he call for a fresh investigation into the allegations irene made?
