‘human rights’ wishlist
do you know that the human rights watch had also came out with a wish-list (sort of) in their letter dated 28 oct. to pak lah? here are their wish-list in point form.
* Repeal the Internal Security Act (ISA).
* Charge or release those still detained under the ISA, and guarantee all detainees
access to legal counsel.
* Ensure the independence of the judiciary.
* End media censorship.
* Ensure the protection of other basic rights, including the rights of free association and free assembly.
* Promote women’s rights through legislative reform, allocation of resources for support, services and training programs.
* Introduce reforms to protect migrant workers’ rights.
* Protect the rights of refugees in Malaysia.
* Support Irene Fernandez’s right to free expression.
* Release former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
