hi. welcome to my new blog.

it’s such a disappointment that my first post has to be a depressing post. why? you see, i am now typing with only one eye! last night i had an accident! i tripped and fell flat on the left side of my face and had a big bump around my eyes. the swelling got bigger and bigger until now my eyes can’t be open. i had seen the doctor.

heh. better make it to 1001 post instead of stopping at 1000 posts. you know lah, in case there is an award thingy for ‘1000 posts and above’ or a ‘prestigious over 1000 posts club’ to join. if i stop at the 1000th post, i’ll miss the chance. as long as i already have 1000 posts here, doesn’t matter if i go on blogging here for another 3 or 10 or 20 posts! haha.

but what am i going to say here? ok lah… to introduce to you again the recent podcast i’m involved in:

remember the workshop on podcasting, blogging and CMS? and where jerry had done a live podcast on the petrol hike protest in KL? well, all the 3 parts of the podcasts are now up.

the first one is about 10 mins and had live phone interview with danny and elizabeth who were at the protest. go to jerry’s blog here to download it and listen.

ok i had finally decided on a theme for my new wordpress (WP) blog. there are so many choices that i just don’t know which to choose. all of them are good. i spent hours each day choosing. i picked one, and later changed my mind again when i browse the theme. ya i know i’m so fickle minded.

as i said originally i wanted 3 columns theme, as this present blog of mine has 3 columns too, but i decided to try for 2 columns instead. at first i wanted blue colour theme but i was thinking maybe time for another colour - and i choose green - another nature colour.

Loh Seng Kok wasn’t really far off in his speech when he complained about ‘imbalanced’ history textbooks, prayer recital guidelines and the difficulty ofnon-Muslims with regards to places of worship.

My fellow brethren strut around thinking that we shaped this nation. Well,let me tell it to you guys, others have shed blood for this nation, and if it were only possible to put the blood from all the races into barrels, classified by race, I wager that non-Malay blood would probably fill up more barrels. And if you could do it for sweat, the result would be the same.

when a non muslim MP raised an issue regarding islam, they just had to give him a warning that he was raising sensitive issues, and the bully boys had to protest against what was being said.

what kelana jaya MP loh seng kok said in parliament were the nothing but the truth. i salute him for daring to speak up.

Loh said the syllabus of history textbooks ignored the contribution of non-bumiputeras and only emphasised on the islamic civilisation.

reference my previous post about a water shortage in years to come, particularly in the klang valley, malacca and penang.

i was very surprised to find out that penangites uses an average 400 litres of water per person daily compared with the national average of 300 litres.

really? penangites used so much water? highest among all the states?

penang water watch (PWW) president prof chan ngai weng said most of the water wastage are through flushing, watering and washing.

i guess this is true.

frightening, isn’t it? i mean this headline that greeted me yesterday morning in the star paper.

water shortage? water? one of the most essential needs in our lives? goodness! i shudder to think of a future without water… and it will be all our faults… because we never take care of our rivers.

the culprit is over-development… but over-development is done by humans, or rather the greed of humans?

“On one hand, we have river basins overburdened by problems brought about by over - development. On the other hand, the number of people dependent on these rivers keeps rising because they are attracted to the development. That is a recipe for disaster.” so said department of irrigation and drainage director-general keizrul abdullah.

now, why ain’t i surprise to learn of this - ‘racism rife in malaysia’s melting pot’.

this was the result of a telephone survey (among 1200 malaysians) conducted by independent merdeka centre for opinion research.

in the survey, they also found out that negative racial stereotyping is very much alive indeed. e.g.
‘malays are lazy’
‘chinese are greedy’
‘indians cannot be trusted’

the workshop on podcasting, blogging and content management system (CMS) had about 20 persons in attendance. ong has the list of names so i’ll wait for ong to post about the workshop first before i can get hold of the names. most of them were from NGOs and a small group of USM students. none of the regulars penang bloggers, whom i used to meet during our bloggers meet turned up. i guess they are not interested in sitting through workshop learning something (or perhaps they already know/good at those topics). they are more interested in gathering for socialising only! funny though that in meeting at starbucks or coffee bean or some fast food joints, a person can only ’socialise’ with the ones on your right, left and in front of you and NOT with everyone… so what’s socialising? if meet in a private place (like this new place ‘d space’ at least everyone can walk around and mingle… that is real socialising. anyway i know some bloggers have ‘clique’ so i guess if one don’t come, the others won’t come.
