typing with one eye
Post on Mar.31, 2006
hi. welcome to my new blog.
it’s such a disappointment that my first post has to be a depressing post. why? you see, i am now typing with only one eye! last night i had an accident! i tripped and fell flat on the left side of my face and had a big bump around my eyes. the swelling got bigger and bigger until now my eyes can’t be open. i had seen the doctor.
i will blog about how and why i fell and the visit to the doc and all that later. so diappointed. i had so much that i wanted to write, esp. now with the 9MP unveil, but i just can’t go on now as i have only one eye to see and the left swollen eye hurts sometimes… including foehead too. hope tomorrow the swelling will go down so that i will be able to see more to type.
now i gotta take my medication then go to sleep and hopefully the swelling/pain will reduce… though the doc told me that by tomorrow the bump will turn worst… more blackened. oh actually i had been advised by the doc and my mum and sis not to use the PC at all but here i am…. addicted to blogging!
ok really gotta go now… tears welling in my left eyes now… no no, not crying…. straining i guess. haha.
UPDATED sat. morning.
this is how i look like – taken after my return from the clinic about 1.00am). the swelling has almost completely close my whole eyes.

Gawd, this one looks real frightening. It’s like you got an egg stuck behind your eye. Lucia, do take good care of your eyes (both) and tie up your hands and fingers if you have to, just stay away from the computer screen until the swelling has gone down. If you are reading this now, obviously you are not going to do this. Anyway, best wishes to you on this one.
lucia: yes, it does look frightening eh. indeed the swelling was as big as an egg on day 1. er… yes that day, once in a long while, i still get on the net to read my blog! well since today the swelling had gone done quite a lot, i’m able to see more, so i can reply comments (and possibly write a post later, if can).

lucia: thanks for pointing that out. me no realise about it. anyway, i had run to boringest when i read this and he had fixed it for me. (thanks boringest!)

As an avid fan of jogalong, let me first congratulate u on ur new url/layout. love the simplicity compared to the previous one!
Keep the postings coming. Wanna hear your comments about the monorail / 2nd bridge.
And oh..listen to anak merdeka’s advice. Hope you get well soon!
cheers
lucia: thanks daysleeper. i knew i can count on your support. btw, it’s no more ‘jogalong’ lah. my blog name is all along ‘mental jog’. ‘jogalong’ is the url, not the name. and now i am not using jogalong url anymore.
yes i do have lots to say about the 2nd bridge/monorail but i don’t know if i can do lots of typing/staring at PC yet. everytime i stare at the PC, my sister reprimanded me for not resting my eyes! i might do one post today about my eyes then maybe tomorrow about the 2nd bridge/monorail.

Sorry to hear about your left goldfish eye (joke). I guess you will be off the bike for a while and will have to listen to Richard Marx’s “Silent Scream”. You’ll make the best of it. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery. Cheers!
lucia: er… KK… actually my normal eyes, already got people label it as ‘goldfish eye’ since they are big and bugling. haha.
yes i can’t take the bike for these few days i suppose as i still can’t see properly with my left eye. must depend on my sister to give me a lift.Â

This can’t be an “April fool”joke Lucia?
Anyway take good care of that eye and get well SOON……
Keep us posted on your progress of the “bad” eye.
Take Care
lucia: april fool joke? i wish it was… unfortunately it is all real.

OMG, I hope that there is no fracture. Sometimes an X-rays may be necessary juz in case. Put plenty of ice on it to minimise the swelling. Buy a pair of cool sun glasses and stop straining your eyes (no looking at men
). Like your new patch and get well soon.
lucia: it’s ok. the doc checked and assure no internal injury. the doc also said that putting an ice pack on it now makes no difference. what’s important is to put the ice pack immediately after it happened. and it happened while i was out on the street and it took me near one hour to get home. anyway following day i did place hot towel on it instead.

Trust its not so serious as a fracture – something which the doc at the clinic would/should be able to diagnose and prescribe an xray. Fracture happens more often at the lower floor of the orbital bone in serious traumas and the tissue swelling alone is not necessarily directly proportional to the seriousness.
lucia: yes, it is not that serious. the doc had given me some medication to reduce the swelling and stop any infection.

Sorry about your eyes. To cheer you up (or rather to depress you further), here’s our tongue-in-cheek view of KOMTAR. Three images in the original article.
KOMTAR to Become Swiftlet Housing Instead of Low-Income Housing

Komplex Tun Abdul Razak will be turned into a 65-storey swiftlet housing to produce RM18 million worth of bird nests a year, the Penang Legislative Council and City Council voted unanimously behind closed door in a joint session to approve the project. Fewer than a handful of legislators walked out in protest.
[Blah blah blah …]

[...] this is how my left eye look like, a week after the accident. yeah, eye can open now but still got swelling – the swelling at the tail-end of the eyebrow, where it all started. when i first fell, the swelling start there and slowly after an hour, it became bigger and bigger until it covers my eyes. now as the swelling reduce, it seems to reduce the opposite way it started.
